That is an amazing shot. Will all of the BS that does on in DC (national and local politics), it makes me proud to be an American when I see this! Thank you for sharing this image.

Anyone may or may not have this answer, but the Seagrave repair place here in Baltimore on Rt40 ( Pulaski Hwy ) off of Middle River Rd , has had DCFD 30 ENGINE Seagrave & another unidentified DCFD Seagrave pumper sitting on their back lot. 30 has most of its gear still on it & the other cannot tell, but I've heard they're not real photographer friendly at this dealer I don't know , I personally have never had a dealing with this dealer, are 30 & the other in for repair or going to be sent back to Clintonville ? Any & all help much appreciated.

Can't help you with any specific info about the DCFD engines but do know some things about the facility where they are. This is Gene Davis' place that goes by two names, "Davis Engine Repair and Service Center" and "Maryland Emergency Products, LLC". Gene used to be the Seagrave dealer in the Baltimore area back when the DCFD was buying all of the Seagrave apparatus. Now Gene is the Smeal dealer in Maryland.

The other unknown rig may possibly be Engine 9. If so, Engine 9 is headed back to the Seagrave plant in Wisconsin for some major work. Not sure on Engine 30 though.

It's engine 73.

Ladder 68,

The Standpipe Racks in the DCFD are used for all sorts of plays from the engine playbook. Many firefighters that are not from the DC area ask about the tray for what they call high-rise packs.

The best description I've heard to explain a DCFD Standpipe Rack is "100 foot of 1 1/2" hose with pipe and reducer for whatever the hell you need to do with it pack".

You can extend a hoseline that ran short, operate off the standpipe in a DC mid-rise(normally 12 stories), drop the rack out the window to avoid running the line up the stairwell, and on and on. The options are only limited to your imagination. The next step is to add pony-sections to all your prec-connected lines so they become loads of hose that can become instantly portable also.

A good DC engine company running the line is a sight to behold.

Another thing I've seen some companies do is use their standpipe racks to make the front bumper line into a 200' line. This is often done by engines assigned to RIT as often the other three 1 1/2" pre connects are already being used. Since the RIT engine is often parked a good distance from the incident they take their racks with them and make the front bumper line into a 'regular' attack line.

Thank you DCFD for continuing to be a traditional and aggressive department. I also know you're navigating through some "upper echelon" BS. Thank you for keeping the Roto-Ray on most of your rigs. It is appreciated by more than you know. Please consider joining the Facebook page devoted to having the RR returned to Fairfax County, where it has become obsolete on all county purchased rigs. The Volunteer companies almost unanimously have them on their rigs. Thanks fellas. Stay safe.
