FDNY New pumpers.........
And not to get away from the FDNY topic, but the Rosenbauer comments might not be too far off. My dept has recently begun the process of replacing one of our ladder trucks. We met with the regional Rosenbauer dealer and according to them, they are the #1 selling apparatus manufacturer in the world with the exception of the United States. They claim they are second here in the US only to Pierce.
No claims it is true Rosenbauer is the largest, oldest, and highest selling in the world but they are 2nd to Pierce in sales in the US but not for much longer if Pierce keeps going the way they are going.

As for KME's build time my department just had two pumpers delieveried and from pre build to final was about 4 1/2 months. Sales for everyone is down about 20-30% so there is plenty of space on the line for everyone.

If only someone could convince Mack to update the CF and get back in the business. I know it was 1% (or less) of their overall business, but I think they could dominate the current market.

Those Volvo Fire Trucks in Sweden are very nice, they could slap a bulldog on and go to town!

I think mack was smart enough to get out of the fire biz and is smart enough to stay away.. Havi.g said that, my dept has a few left and i love them ...

I spoke with our local KME rep today and apparently the FDNY is dealing "factory direct". No local dealers involved, at least when it comes to Kmart. He also stated that an agreement has definitely NOT been met but talks are still ongoing.

I am not sure I understand the logic of ordering such a large amount of apparatus without first using a prototype.

I know Ottawa has placed an order but do they have KME rigs inservice. Philly is the only city that mat be close to wear and tear to FDNY.
