As for the former E-20, probably the most unique second line apparatus in DC is the 2000 Cyclone assigned to E-20, wrecked on Military Rd NW, June 8, 2006. It sits as a testimonial on the grounds of the Training Academy in the same aspect it was recovered. It still carries Shop serial S-123.

Yes. Military Rd. is a dual lane street that crosses Rock Creek Park in upper northwest. It has center guard rails giving it a highway/ bridge appearance. I believe the accident occured on the first curve east of Oregon Ave. NW.

Chief, S-371 is sitting in the warehouse very out-of-service due to failing its ladder test this spring.
This, coming from a city that has meter maids driving around with blue light bars and wigwags with the flow of traffic, and the DDOT civilians have red/blue & sirens. You're wasting your time arguing lights in this jurisdiction.

Hey pal. I don't think he was trying to spar with you or argue about what you should do in your jurisdiction. Its yours, by all means do what you want with it. You have to know that a vast majority of people however would agree that an amber 888 light is - lets say less than the norm - hell, that may be why they did it.
Amber just doesn't seem right on the back of a fire engine, let alone the front!!
By the way, I do think its great that you guys can "slightly" customize your rigs!!
Deja Vu. Just for you, Smketrfdny: Remember the SW corner of 14th and New York Ave? A repeat offender. This photo is c.1977, but it could have been anytime in through the 80s. You can't really see it from the soft scan, but when viewed in The Scrapbook one can count seven 1 1/2" lines where members threw a rack out the window and had the wagon driver hook it up to a preconnect, most likely the 350'. That view is essentially the same today as it was back then.
I have never really seen a Mars light in person, but from the looks of it the amber isnt too bright. I too would suggest putting the clear lense back on or getting a red one.
I recently checked into the possibility of putting aircraft landing light bulbs into ours! I kind of figured they wouldn't work but thought what the hell I will check.
I had one of our members who is an aircraft mechanic for the federal government take a look.
He said the voltage would be too high for one and there were a couple of other reasons but man they would of got your attention!

That would be cool if they made an LED version of the Mars light. They now have an LED version of the Roto Ray. Maybe they'll make one for the Mars light next.
