While going through some photos with my wife's family, I found this shot taken by her grandfather, Samuel Martucci. It's of the famous Lake Shore Limited Gulf Curve wreck in Little Falls, N.Y., taken on April 20, 1940. It's very similar to the photo usually seen from the scene, except that the people have moved, and there is a train in the background that doesn't appear in the more publicized photo. He was a Utica Police Officer and I assume might have had better access to the scene to grab this shot.

Metro North Railroad P32AC-DM #225, that was involved in the Decmber 1, 2013 derailment in the Bronx, resulting in 4 deaths.  It is in the CSX Croton West yard (Croton on Hudson) awaiting  shipment to General Electric in Erie, PA for repair.

No, it's probably the last one that made it through before the derailment happened.  The empty cars are now sitting in the yard in Seattle ready to go back to the Spirt factory in Wichita.

Great pictures my father retired out of the Union Pacific, he started with the Missouri Pacific. Love the old Uncle Pete Locomotive.

Thanks for the compliment.  My father also worked for a railroad that was swallowed up by the UP, although he was forced to retire before the merger was finalized.  Worked for the Espee at the former Taylor Yard, just NE of Downtown LA.  The steam engine has been renumbered back to its original number of UP #844.  At the time of the 50th Birthday of the station, there was a diesel engine with that number.

My dad ended up at the Company Headquarters in Omaha and when he retired, by out of course, he was in Washington DC area. I remember going to the Family Days and riding passenger cars. I will have to try and sit in an area where I can get some pictures of Uncle Pete trains as they roll through Vegas.
