I asked around and the chiefs are telling me the term "quint" wasn't used until 1992 / 1993 when the 75' Pierce Lance went in service. At that point both the Pierce and the LTI 75' were designated as Q35 & Q34. S37 which was truely a Telesqurt kept the Squrt designation. Even then, only the south departments (Castlewood, Parker & Castle Rock) adopted the term Quint. The Metro Chief's didn't buy off on it which is probably still why Denver, Westminster, Thornton, Brighton, North Metro etc. all label their Quints as Trucks.

Fair enough...are all SMFR's trucks now referred to as Quints, I know they were truck/ladder when they first went in to service? Never thought about it till now, but Englewood's truck was technically a quint, and L18 is a quint...different strokes I guess.



As a side note, there was a point where DFD referred to their Squrts as Quints.
