A rare shot of the Illinois Terminal Heritage Unit, Norfolk Southern 1072 along with NS 1049 (both EMD SD70ACe) & BNSF 5075 (GE C-44-9W) as it pulls a crude oil train through Utica N.Y. on March 3, 2013. "Chased" this one by Email notifications as it left the Dakotas and headed to the Port of Albany NY, and was lucky enough to have it roll past during the daylight hours. A UP Heritage Unit passed through about 4:00AM today, so you can't get them all!

Fire 175 You must set a speed record chasing this.
You know that I know where these were photographed and the time it takes to be at those various sites. Did by chance did you get one in Petersburg at the depot? I'd would have been there but other plans took me out of the area.

A train of potash from Canada in Portland, OR. Once when I had nothing better to do I counted 122 cars in one of these trains and, coincidentally, I was on 122nd Ave. at the time.
Quote:I think I know who that is about 100 yds. ahead... SOME CRAZY PERSON. I STEERED CLEAR OF HIM.
Here's a rare look at three trains side by side on the Mohawk Subdivision mainline in Little Falls, N.Y. CSX 5298 on the left (on the mainline track 2), and UP 5917 on the right (on a siding) were exchanging crews, while CSX 5325 on the mainline track 1 is passing by. Little Falls is one of the locations that still has all four tracks of the New York Central Water Level Route.
