My immediate first thought on this rig was that it looks like the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree of Fire Engines. Poor thing. [/quote]
Hey all David over at FireTrucks Unlimited sent me a file of some of the rigs that they have l refurbed and first up is this 2000 Seagrave from the Salt Lake City Fire Department. The rig was marked as Engine 5.
To see the whole process just follow the link below: http://www.firetrucksunlimited.com/salt-lake-city-f-d/ As always in this thread credit goes to the original photographer. In the shop and before they started on the rig are the first three in this post Here is the finished product.

I'm drooling over that SLC Seagrave, and I'm really excited to see the one they have now when it's done.
In a similar style Patroit fire has a similar section on they're website for east coast stuff.

1994 KME PUMPER
The Navy had them take this KME Pumper and convert it into a Rescue Unit. They don't have this one shown on the website so I don't have a link to all of the pictures. See the next post for the finished rig.

Wow! They seem to do some pretty nice work! The couple rescues look pretty impressive!
Nice job on the photos and information. I really enjoyed this after previously working for a company who did ambulance & rescue refurb & remounts.
You can see even in the pictures they seem to do a really good job and obviously take pride in their product. I wonder how much Salt Lake and the Navy saved on those rigs. It's also refreshing to see the Navy finding ways to find new life out of previous rigs instead of throw away and reuse. Especially if the chassis still is good and has life left in it, yes I realize many of the military rigs have no more sweat to give when their primary role is over. Kris
I recall a video awhile ago about how much there saving by rehabbing units and I thought the guy said it was almost half the cost of new. I'll see if I can find the video or ask my buddy for the link.
Some of the KME pumpers have stayed pumpers, other turned into rescue/hazmat and some into smaller tankers(kinda funny looking) I know alot of the pumpers and attacks have been rehabbed and refitted with a new kid of surpression system??? Any one know anything about it? |
