DCFD Photos, old or new
Quote:Is the pre-owned Seagrave going in front line service or reserve?
If it runs well and the ladder actually works I would imagine front line. We are not in a position to replenish our reserve fleet currently. As everyone predicted; not buying fire apparatus for almost 4 years has cost us dearly. We are down truck companies every day still and the "front line" trucks that were shown to need major repairs are barely reserve status worthy.

Just trying to add some life to the DC topic. Here is Engine Company 31 aka S-191. This is one of the 2014 Pierce Arrow XTs that were delivered late last year. It was placed into service in January 2015. This was a camera phone shot, which needed to be resized a bunch of times.

Have DCFD rigs always been this Orangish-Red? I noticed it when I saw them at Pierce in person last year, but looking at most photos (at least prior to delivery of the Arrow XT Rescues) they looked like a true Red.

What are the white squares on the roof near the rear cab corners.

My immediate first thought on this rig was that it looks like the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree of Fire Engines. Poor thing.

The latest picture I've seen, it no longer has them on it, unless it was actually taken before the one posted above.

Those are mobile repeater antennas for the radio system. It helps in-building coverage, especially with higher frequency systems like 700/800 MHz, as those radio waves can't penetrate buildings as well as VHF. IIRC, only BC buggies had them at one time. Maybe DCFD has them on other rigs, too.

All the DCFD apparatus have the repeaters.

The used ladder truck is at currently waiting for the radios to be installed. It's in the warehouse behind 24Engine. It has been assigned to Truck 15 at The Farm in Brentwood. We still have to get "trained" on it and dont know when that will happen.
