Ottawa Fire Services

Quote:Who have win the bid for the tanker? Hasnt been awarded yet. The bids are being reviewed to see who is compliant. Here is my conceptual drawing of the trucks- fully enclosed dump chute that can extend and rotate 180 degrees.
In 2001 the Ottawa Fire Dept. was amalgamated with 8 surrounding suburban and rural fire departments to become today's Ottawa Fire Services. Gloucester, to the east of Ottawa, had an eclectic collection of apparatus.
1972 Pierreville-Imperial 840/200/100 ft.
Vanier was a small city completely surrounded by Ottawa.
1967 Thibault-Ford 625/500
Nepean was a suburb to the west and south of Ottawa.
1983 Pierreville-Kenworth 1750/1700. Alburgh, VT has the sister truck to this which is still in service.
1979 Thibault-Ford 625/1500. This was a very standard Thibault tanker design except for the LDH hose reel at the rear.
Kanata was a city to the west of Ottawa. Prior to its incorporation as a city in 1978 it was part of the Township of March.
King Seagrave Ford 625/500?? Quote:1977 Superior-Ford 1050/500First time I ever rode a rig to a call was this truck as a high school co-op student in 1983. Later started as a career member of the Gloucester Fire Department just after it was sold to Cobden, Ontario.
Wonderful stuff, Ian!
Quote:Could there be an issue with the doors (access to the dump chute) freezing up in the winter? Is there a plan for this? Thanks! Quote:Could there be an issue with the doors (access to the dump chute) freezing up in the winter?Putting a wabasco heater there..... |
