NOZZLEMAN'S PICTURES
Quote:Why are the going with a new manufacturer? I never thought I would see anything but Pierce in Vegas.

From what I understand and this is not gospel just talk at one of the stations the guys are not happy with the some of the features on the new Quantums.

Thanks for the quick response. Well, the new engines look good and I am sure they are very functional.

ENGINE 41

20?? Pierce QUANTUM 2000/500

I went out today and was sitting near Station 1. At first I thought this was Engine 1 coming back from a run but saw that it was Engine 41. I was sitting in my truck when I shot this photo.

I was out today and stopped by one of the grocery stores near by where most of the Fire Stations go for their daily shopping. I was in luck as Engine 106 was there. I checked with the Captain to make sure he was okay with my taking the photos and got these.

While I was out today I ran out to Station 65 and the guys were great. They pulled all three rigs out and let me take all the photos I wanted. Engine 65 was using a spare as their rig is in the shop with a blown tranny.

For those that are like me and keeping a list of what rigs run out of the station the Water Tender that was at one time assigned to Station 19 is now assigned to Station 65 as Water Tender 65. The guys that I talked to said that it has come in handy since there tends to be some vehicle fires out in the dessert and if the Water Tender is needed the guys on the Rescue will jump on the Water Tender. Station 65 is located in the Southern Highlands area of the Las Vegas Valley and is not all that busy.

Every two months the Clark County Fire Department has a open house and I try and make them all. In August Station 14 was the one that hosted the open house. I was able to get some close up photos of Engine 14.

Clark County Fire Department

Engine 14

2005 (If I am Remembering correctly) Pierce Quantum

Engine 14 has approximately 150k miles on it and is suppose to be heading for rehab. The Department found that doing this costs a quarter of the amount

that it does to replace the engine.

I was at the open house for Las Vegas Fire And Rescue on the 14-October-2017. The Clark County Fire Department had cancelled their open house out of respect to those that were killed on the 1st of October on the Stripe.

I found out that the units that run a lot are being switched from Station to Station to try and ease the amount of runs they make, and the amount of fire-load they work at. Currently the Snozzle Unit is assigned to Engine 3.

Pictured below is the current Engine 1.

You notice the #VEGASSTRONG. that appears on all of the Las Vegas Fire And Rescue Rigs.

This photo was taken as they were responding to a confirmed Structure fire shortly after the open house started. This was one of three that they would end up running on during the open house. Two were working fires and one was a pot on the stove.

This year the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Department moved away from the Pierce Quantums. Engine 201 received one of the new Smeals. It has been in the body shop and had to have warranty repairs already. The guys like the rig just have to get use to coming out of the cab backwards instead of the way they are use to.

I was out chasing fires today and there was only one good one, and by that I mean one that there was some action when I got there. One of the rigs that was in Staging was Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Engine 2. I shot this one and as I was moving to get a drivers side photo they were released from the fire. The fire was a 2 Alarm Apartment build fire.

Today for the first time in several months I was able to get out and chase a fire. I caught one and by the time I got there the fire was pretty much out.

LAS VEGAS FIRE AND RESCUE
ENGINE 6

LVFR SHOP NUMBER 1740

The Las Vegas Fire and Rescue department rotates all of the rigs from company to company that way all of the rigs are used evenly and that the busiest companies such as Engine 4, Engine 1, etch don't wear a new rig out with as much as they run.
