ROAD TRIP !

Today ( Sunday ) the weather was beautiful. So I jumped into the Crown, and went down to the beaches area for a ride. For you Floridians, St. Pete Beach, Pass A Grille, Fort DeSoto Park, Treasure Island, north thruu Clearwater. Here are some pics of the trip. Ran into a lady during one of my stops who along with her husband are members of the Indiana Fire Buffs Assoc. and she took some pics of the Crown to send back to Indiana. Nice lady and glad to have met her. Small world these fire truck clubs huh!!!

First 2 pics are me taking shots from inside the cab while driving over the Howard Frankland Bridge and then the other is just when I was entering Fort DeSoto Park.
The box in the window is my Speedpass for the Florida tolls. Wasn't sure if I could use it in the firetruck, but no one said anything.

Some shots taken in Fort DeSoto Park, north end, wanted to get the Skyway Bridge in the background but there was remnants of fog so that wasn't an option.

Saturday March 24th is the Crown's first official parade. Here in Oldsmar, Fla. the town is having it's annual Oldsmar Days Celebration. Looking forward to it. The Mrs. and I have worked hard to wash, wax and touch up the truck for it's debut on the parade circuit. Pics to follow.

Oldsmar Parade today. Weather was gorgous. Here is the Crown ready to go. I added a flag to fly off the tailboard. She really is looking good today.

I will add some pics of the other rigs that came from the club after this.

OPEN CAB

Thanks to members of Crown Firecoach Enthusiasts I have some pictures of my Crown when it was an open cab. That's the good news. Bad news is I put them all is a scrapbook already and it would be hard to pull them out to scan to post here. But I'll try in a couple of weeks. Then, I found this picture which for obvious reasons when you see it, did not make the scrapbook, but there is a better one of this picture which isn't distorted at all and looks great in the book. But this picture will give you an idea of the Squrt's layout before going "hard top" <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

And.......it was designated an Engine before finally ending up Truck ( 7171 )

The Crown, the Mrs. and I went to a park just south of us, Fort DeSoto for an Easter picnic, but the parking area's where pretty well filled. But we did find a small spot to park the Crown. And here is a picture of my wife with the Crown.

Frank, how's it been going with the Crown? Mario and I were both thinking earlier tonight about how we hadn't talked to you in a while.

Hey there! The Crown is doing good. It is going to a parade on Friday evening over in a town called Clearwater for their Sun N Fun parade. This is one that the club has always looked forward to every spring. This same town also has a very nice Christmas parade too.

Then Sat. we are doing a charity/auction event for a child's birthday party. One of our club members works for a school and each year they have an auction to have fire trucks come and do some games with them and water type stuff, etc.

This family won the auction when they donated $3k to the school. So for a couple of hours we'll be there.

How are you and Mario doing in Indiana? When are you going to be heading to Florida? I mean heading back to California?

Talk to you soon.

Hi, Frank!

Mario's out in California, and I'm at home. I was out there over the weekend, though, for the Burn Run and Spring Pump-In. Some pictures from the Burn Run are on the website now, and I'll be adding the rest tomorrow probably as well as the pictures from the Pump-In.

I have the Crown entered in the Derby City Chapter's Truck Show on May 19th in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. That'll be its first show here in the Midwest. I think the next one after that will be the Indiana Volunteer Firefighter's Association Convention in June; that's when the events really start piling up here. From mid-June onward through mid-August, there's an event each weekend to go out to. I just have to recruit a couple of willing drivers to help move one or two of the other trucks, depending on who's around. I know almost everyone would be willing to help drive the Crown, but it's the ALFs I need drivers for. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

That's about it. Just thought I'd buzz by and see what was new in your corner. I'm not sure when we'll be in Florida! I think the Crowns will have to wait to meet in Syracuse.

Marco, I left my camera at home on Friday so I have none from the parade. So I wasnt able to get pics of the Crown. But we did a private function on Saturday, and it was hot as hell, but I am waiting for some pics. We actually got the Crown to pump that day and it worked great !

Cant wait to see some summer pics of your truck out and about NJ !!!!!
