Couldnt get a pic of them, but there is about 20 trolley cars sitting of I-80 at Exit 81 in Pennsylvania. Looked like a fuel oil company's property they were sitting on, not sure. But you can't miss them.

TVRM is running full steam ahead this summer. Here is our pride and joy, ex-US Army 610 doing duty on the local.

Tenn. Valley RR Museum's Hiwassee Div. ran a trip Fri. from Etowah, TN. to Copperhill, TN. The Blue ridge Scenic RR train is mostly in GA. The locomotive and maybe the first 2 cars are in TN, but the passengers depart the train in GA.

I gotta say, these are some impressive photos! I never really thought to take pics of trains, always been a traffic hold up but I did take 2 the other day while in BFE taking photos of something else. Couldn't get anything better with all the trees and giant weeds. Maybe I'll start doing more of this in the future.

Second one taken from the other side. Again, sorry for the quality. These were taken from the 103rd floor of the Sears Tower in Chicago, Ill. whilst on vacation. Just playing with my zoom {on the CAMERA <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />}, and even thought of you train buffs 103 floors up.

At first I was thinking you meant in the area of Danville between the two branches of the Susquehanna River. There are railcars including an old interurban car sitting there for years. But that's exit 224.

That's not a P42. It's actually a P32AC-DM, and CDOT owns a few of them in the McGinnis NH scheme. If I recall, the road numbers are 228, 229, 230 and 231. P42's are a diesel-electric, while P32AC-DM's are dual-mode diesel-electric/electric (able to draw electricity for the traction motors from the 3rd rail shoes on the MN line into Grand Central Terminal). Ever since a catastrophic accident in the early 20th century, NYC law prohibits the use of diesel (or at the time, steam) locomotives in the Park Avenue Tunnels and within GCT, requiring locos like the FL9 and the P32AC-DM. Similar restrictions at Penn Station and the approach tunnels led to the development of the EMD dual-modes built for the LIRR to allow for a one seat ticket on certain lines (Port Jefferson?) from Long Island into New York City without the change at Jamaica to EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) trains.

Our newest addition at the Tenneesse Valley RR Museum. This gal started life as a high nose GP9, L&N RR #511. After a damaging collision with something big in Ala, she was sent to EMD for a makeover. EMD chopped her nose for the repair and painted her the first grey and yellow scheme for L&N. She was the only chopped-nose GP9 on the L&N. She made it to Family Lines paint and got her current number then. After Family Lines, she appeared in a red dress working for the Alabama & Florida. She then got her current black dress while working for Mr. Claussen in Knoxville. She is now working for TVRM and the prevailing rumor is she will wear the grey and yellow of the great L&N RR.

I just posted to Steve Skaar on the St. Louis apparatus thread how the well thought captions made it a most enjoyable thread. I have to extend that compliment to "Punkin" Duncan, aka thefireman4501. On occasion I return to this thread and review his photos and captions again -- not that I'm a huge train fan, they're just pleasant easy reading and fun. Keep it up!
