I am working with a local graphic artist to do a caricature of the Crown to put on a shirt. Here is the first draft. I wanted it to show someone trying to light a match and the person totally soaked and smoke coming off the match. I am trying to think of a slogan/saying for the caricature, any idea's. Here is a pic of the first draft. Obviously it needs work and the artist forgot where the water cannon was so I sent her some updated pics. But there on the right track. Check it out.
This will be the third and probably final draft of the caricature, with the body holding the match only to look a bit more surprised than is currently shown. OK fire pics'ers, I need a slogan/saying for the caricature, any suggestions <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/idea.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Last night our club went to another Clearwater Threshers ( Phillies farm team ) game. It was a good time had by all, and thankfully the weather held. Here's some pics from last night, we had a few of our rigs there, I'll start off with mine <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
You know I love it, Frank. You need to work on the First Bank of Dad for me because unless it's "Free to a Good Home," I don't think it's in our short-term future. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Lindsay, we would have had the '74 there but it lost a "bleeder valve" type that sits in the center console of the truck and we are waiting for the part to come back from NAPA. The 72's owner could not make the event. I expect to see the '74 out and about more now once this part gets changed out. She'll be good to go.

I know, I hope you know I'm only kidding around with ya. It would be like showing me another Crown Squrt, or worse, a pumper, which I would love to have to put along side of Squrt at events.
Not this year. But I could be very well planning to take her next year. That would be awesome. I've spent many a great time there. Between now and then IF my father's house ever sells in Manahawkin I want to get her painted and relettered, and maybe, put her back to open cab. First I say no, then yes. But she'd certainly stand out in the Wildwood parade along with Marco's Crown. Going down the parade route together, awesome !!!!! People be like Crown, what the hell is a Crown <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Surf City has a Mack B Model I'd love to buy from them. If you ever get to Surf City it sits in a small bldg on 13th street. Talk to the town superintendant of the borough Ed, good friend of mine, see if he'll let you in to take some pics. She's was a gorgous truck, don't know what shape she's in now.
AND.........Pinewood Estates, ex-Stafford Township has a Mack Telesquirt I'd give a body part to buy. It just looks awesome.
Keith, had the Crown running a few weeks ago, drafting and check out this pic, what a nice site, she puts out a nice fog pattern. You should see the straight stream <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/jawdrop.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
OK, now I'm starting to get into that projects mood again, and with the help of a friend I decided it was time to paint the faded Crown that is on the corner diamond plates on the 4 corners of the truck. With the help of the spray on paint remover the old paint was completely gone in 4 minutes with a wire brush, but this s**t is very caustic or whatever you want to call it, got some on my hand and it burned.
Then went with a spray on paint prep to ensure the Crown area was clean of any oil, paint, contaminants, etc. and let that dry.
And then put on 2 coats of the red paint, it's a slighter lighter red, more of the traditional red color paint of a fire truck.
Once it's completely dry I'll go over it with a metal spray clearcoat. Should look nice. Here is what one of the corners looks like now, then I'll post one when it's finished. The pics aren't the best but you get to see the faded and old looking colors and weather has done to the corners.
One picture enclosed of one of the Crown stamped bumpers, they all turned out great. I will attach a picture later of the completed look, I and a friend sanded off all the red from the Crown letters. A little touching up and a metal clearcote and they are good to go.
Now the best part, the truck is relettered, all the old lettering and shield on door has been replaced with vinyl turned gold lettering. First I will post some BEFORE pics, then next the after, and see what y'all think.
