Alexandria, VA Fire Department
My second trip to the AFD shops found Rescue Engine 206 in for some repairs.

I think they were using Reserve Engine 298 while their frontline rig was at the shops.

The Engine cross-mans Rescue Squad 206 in a single pull. Engine 206 can function as the rescue company if necessary.

And the remaining trailers of the AFD. I have posted the reserve TR/TR ladders, the Foam Trailer (more shots of that soon), and Truck 208 which is the only remaining active duty tiller in NOVA, and here are the cargo trailers.

AFD has two Hazmat Special Ops trailers for the it's Hazmat Team which when combined with the Hazmat units from Arlington County Stations 101 and 109 become the North Virginia Hazardous Materials Team.

I believe both of the Hazmat Trailers are 20' trailers which are 1994 models.

AFD also has a 25' trailer that carries shoring for the Alexandria Advanced Technical Rescue Team which is housed at, I believe, Station 206. I have not captured any pictures of this trailer yet.

Lastly is Fire Investigation Trailer which is a 1996 16' Haulmark.

If anyone has any knowledge of any other trailers or any pictures please post.

First up is the Investigation Trailer and the Hazmat Trailers will follow.

I am a fellow photographer in Northern Va. I was going through a box of 8x10 photos of my fathers and found a picture of an old pirsh tiller that was lime green and has Alexandria on it. I am trying to find out where the truck started I have talked to a few guys and came up empty.

Jim,

Aleaxndria ordered a lime Pirsch tiller around 1980 when Comapny 8 / 58 / 208 was built. The rear axle on the tractor literally fell off several years latter. The rig was repaired and returned to service eventually getting a red over white paint job finishing its career as a reserve truck. The engine ordered for the station was a white over red Mack MC.

Jim, if you have a scanner and can add that and any old AFD shots to the thread that would be great.

Paul thanks for your memory and history on the Pirsch. I knew about the pumper and vaguely remember hearing about the tiller.

Nick, which rig are you talking about? All the current AFD rigs are shown in some fashion in all the earlier posts. Some of the job numbers are listed there as well. I am at work and do not have any of the job numbers with me and my internet connection at home has been down. If I get a chance to get it up and running tonight or this weekend I can probably post a few for RE 206, E 201, 202, 204, 207, 208.

I am back in NOVA and was past Station 202 the other day and it looks like they have the Foam trailer which has a foam turret and is set up for ethenol based fires is parked outside at the station. It looked like it was hooked up to a verhicle I haven't seen before that is lettered for Special Operations. I will try to stop by sometime later this week in the daytime and see if I can get a few pictures. Not sure how much shooting I am going on this trip.

The construction on Station 209 is continuing at a good pace. For a few pictures and information check this page on Station 202's website... http://www.engine202delray.org/station209.htm
