DCFD Photos, old or new
That MPD "Boy Truck" has kept me awake a few nights outside my humble abode in Pleasant Plains. It seems that every once in a while, MPD once to do a check point to see who is coming through the hood and the light tower with its accompanying diesel generator is fired up for a few hours outside the master bedroom window. Anybody got any pix of the massive Mack MB-Saulsbury tactical unit? Better yet, pix of it with the compartments open?

All help would be appreciated greatly, Thanks in advance![/quote]

In 2003, the DCFD took delivery on six Pierce Dash wagons, with 1250 GPM pumps and 500-gallon tanks. They were powered by Detroit 50 diesels. Shop serials S-146 through S-151 went to Engines 8, 12, 16, 22, 33, and 4.

These units were identified as #s 13927-01 through 13927-05 (Pierce job numbers?).

That was a nice wagon, for a Pierce. It did ride good but it won't last long at 20 engine.

While waiting painfuly in line to submit my application to DC's Bravest i happened to see engine 16 pull up. So i walk over to see whats going on and so be it one of the other people waiting in line blew a fuse and started stabbing himself with a pen or something like that. Needless to say he got a ride in a cop car, not the amby.

Ok quality for a cell phone pic

I need somebody to confirm or deny this. Parkside Fire Department just purchased a 2008 Seagrave that appears to be set-up to Dcfd spec. Has the District rejected Engines from Seagrave or was this a demo unit?

Ok, thank you. I was told the District rejected the Engine and I could not remember anyone saying about an engine that was returned.

Thank you again.

Somewhere I was told it was a demo, possibly because DC rejected it? I'm not too sure though.

Hope this helps.

Edit: I hear DC didn't accept it because it wasn't needed? Someone can fill us in.

Seagrave went ahead and made this even though the DCFD didn't have an order for it. DC ended up not purchasing it, and that is why it was sold as a stock unit.

It also seems that Seagrave knows a good thing when they see it <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hail.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Hail' /> . There is a lot of interest in the DCFD Specs.( But not in my neighborhood <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bitch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ) Easy to work off of and the short wheelbase.

Your gonna see more of these.

Sneak Peak of Washington D.C. Engine 30 which was just delivered, not put into service yet ! I won't be getting back down to D.C. until next year, so looking forward to someone posting a photo once it has equipment on it and it is placed in service !

Gentlemen,

First of all I'd like to congratulate everyone who contributed to this thread. It's an amazing reading, especially if you try to do it in one go. Reads like a book - with lots of great pictures!

While I managed to answer almost all of my questions after looking at your posts, I still have a couple that need clarification:

Did Mobile Air Unit 1 replace Air 1? If it did, has old Air 1 become Air 3 (ready reserve)? If all the above is correct - are both units still quartered with Engine 4? If not - please clarify.

Foam 1, Foam 2 and TAU1 are at Engine 13, aren't they? And TAU2, as well as TAU3 (ready reserve), are at Engine 1?

Special Operations Unit, is it at the Fire Academy?

Where is Brush Unit quartered?

Reserve trucks, are they assigned to any particular firehouses, or do they sit at the Warehouse?

Is there a Fire Boat 3?

And one last question. Does any know if the following companies (units) ever had patches: E5, E12, E13, E24, E28/T14, E31, DFC, BFC1, BFC5, Command Unit, Fire Boat, Air1/Air2, Foam1/Foam2? If they had - any information, especially in form of scans, photos, samples will be greatly appreciated.

Stay safe

Alex,

The answers to your questions are as follows;

1) Yes, MAU 1 replaced Air 1. I dont know if Air 1 is in reserve or not.

2) Foam 1,2, Tau1 are at E13. TAU 2 is at E1 and I dont know about TAU3.

3) Special OPS is at E4

4) Reserve Trucks are at the Warehouse behind E24

5) I believe there is but not for sure. I know that they used to use an extra MPD boat sometimes.

6) Patches

E5- No

E12/HMU/ BFC 1-- They are known as the Haz Mat Task Force along with T4. BUT NO PATCH!! The HAz Mat had 2 long ago. 1 was when they were at RS3 and they had one that said HAZ Mat on it.

E13/T10/ Foam Unit Task Force-- There are a couple of older ones with the units on it and the "PRESIDENTS MEN" on a shirt. But No patch that I now of!!

E24 - Does have a patch now.

E28/T14- Planning stage!!

E31- Had one YRS ago that said "LIVING ON THE EDGE" !! Haven't seen one except on the wall of some of the company's that have a collection up on wall.

DFC-NO

BFC5-NO

Fire Boat-NO

Air Units-NO

Foam Units -- See E13

Hope this helps!!
