After some updated research just now I was incorrect on a couple things. The first Littleton Truck Co. was a 1961 Peter Pirsch with a 100' midmount. The Sutphen Tower "Truck 2" was a 1979 Sutphen 100' quint with a 1,000gpm pump, I can't find any info on tank size. The photos I've seen don't show any crosslays or pre-connects and a Paramedic Engine also ran out of 12's so it may have just ran as a straight truck.

Thanks for the info, and it's really great to see early Castlewood units.

If anyone comes up with early Littleton photos, I'd be really interested in seeing them. Early suburban Denver rigs are always interesting to see.

After looking at the original photo, the Pumper is an Englewood fire Pierce and not an LBFPD Seagrave.

Not the best nighttime rig photo I've ever taken but I got a quick shot of the new Englewood Battalion 2 on scene of an extrication earlier. The LED package on this thing is blinding.

That clears it up then! Thanks for checking. BTW - Would you be able to supply that photo in a larger size? I'd love to check out the Littleton Sutphen more closely. It's too bad the upload threshold on this service is so small.

This is the only other photo I have been able to find of Castlewood/SMFR's LTI. Again, this is from an unknown photographer/unknown date. This photo was taken at the South Metro Fire Training Academy.

I have noticed Denver has done this over generations of rigs. I know some departments do it to improve visbility when on the road. Just a thought.

I looked at all of DFD's Tower's in my photo gallery (7 total) 4 of them have their buckets up and 3 have them level with the cab. My thought is that it simply comes down to company preference. Before 2000 only one rear mount tower ran in Denver which was Tower 4, it also had the bucket up.
