First off is engine 4, 1995 E one

Engine 12 a 1991 alexis which is slated for replacement by a KME engine. Another is supposed to replace Engine 16, almost twin to Engine 4

The Lime Green rig looks like X-Sykesville FD Carroll County, MD. Maybe being used as a loaner unit a new Ambulance arrives for OC.



Engine 4, & 16 are both E\-One glider kits. Engine 16 use to be an Oren, and I can't remember what Engine 4 was.



By the sounds of it the new KME engines will be in just in time for expo this year. I heard Engine 16 is getting replaced for sure, but have heard about 3 different other rigs that are up for replacement as well.



Great thread topic though. This department has a wide variety of rigs.

I believe Ocean City E4 used the components of the old E4, a '76 Seagrave PB. I have a note saying it was just the pump though.

Even though I handle the southeastern PA region exclusively, I do vacation in Ocean City every year, so I keep up with there apparatus as well. Listed below is what I have on what has posted so far. Keep posting them, and I will keep you up on the info. I am still looking for pictures of the stuff back in the 1950’s – 60’s. What are the specs on the new KME engines ?

1995 Emergency One Cyclone, 4-door eight man cab, 1250/500/30, top-mount, Detroit diesel, automatic, 5KW Honda generator, pump used from the 1978 Seagrave, sold by American Fire Equipment. It was stolen out of the firehouse on 6/18/00 by a PA man, who was chased by police and eventually crashed, causing extensive damage. Runs out of Station 3. Moved to Station 1 in 2006. Engine 4





1991 Spartan Gladiator/Alexis, 4-door cab, 1750/750/40, top-mount, 5 KW generator. Runs out of Station 4. Engine 12





1998 Freightliner FL112/Saulsbury, 2-door, box removed from the 1982 International chassis and remounted on this by Interstate Mack, Runs out of Station 1. Rescue 7

Though I shouldn't be I was a little surprised that they went with KME as I thought they were happy with the last 2 Pierces. The specs appear to be different than the Pierce engines and I wonder how much price was a factor.

WOW!!! I will be watching for this delivery. With some of those bid prices I can only imagine what is being built. Sounds like it will have some "extras" for sure with those bid prices.

1953 Ford F800/American, full cab, 500/400, gas motor, 155HP, manual transmission, American-Marsh Duplex Multistage Centrifugal pump, placed into service in 6/53, was sold by the Glenn Culbert Co. of Washington, DC, taken out of service in 1982, was kept as an antique, refurbed in 1983, in 2002 it was sent to SWAB in PA for another refurb, on the way home on 6/6/02 outside of Halifax, PA, it was being transported on a trailer being pulled by HaZmat 21 (1974 GMC tractor), it slide on the wet roadway and overturned damaging it extensively, which required it to be rebuilt by SWAB, Engine 5 originally – changed to Engine 8



1976 Chevrolet P30, air unit, might have started it’s as the canteen, Air 13



1978 Seagrave PB, canopy cab, 1500/600, refurbed in 1993 by Interstate Mack, Engine 3, changed to Engine 3-1 in 2005



1983 Pierce Arrow, canopy cab, 1500/200, 85 ft Snorkel removed from the 1965 Ford C chassis by Pierce, sent to Interstate Mack in 1994 for refurb, Runs out of Station 5.

1981 International S1900/Hackney, former beverage delivery truck, purchased used in 2003, originally in service at Durham (Middlesex County, CT), repainted, converted to a hazmat response unit. Runs out of Station 1. Hazmat 23



2003 Ford E350 Clubwagon Van, manpower mover, Utility 80



2000 Ford F250, 4-door crew cab, purchased originally as a chief’s buggy, converted to a utility unit in 2005. In 2006, a 6 ft Knapheide utility body was added. Utility 14



2005 Pierce Dash, 4-door six man cab, 2000/600/50A/100B, Cummins ISM, 500HP, automatic, 16” raised roof, aluminum cab & body, 8 KW AMPS hydraulic generator, 4000 watt Will-Burt light tower, Husky Foam System, Zico ladder rack, rollup door in rear, high side compartments both sides, purchased from Singer Fire Equipment, Runs out of Station 1. Based on the spec written, this is what they ordered:



Two (2) 2009 KME Predator LFD w/16” RR, 4-door six man cab, 2000/550/50, Cummins ISM, 500HP, aluminum body, poly tanks, painted Robinson rollup doors, Akron #3126 foam system, 15KW Harrison hydraulic generator, Will-Burt NightScan 3000 watt light tower, and one Hanney electric cord reel.



Not surprising that Engine 12 is being replaced, but someone mentioned Engine 16. Engine 2 is older being a 1985 Pierce Arrow, but i believe the company likes this rig. Engine 9 is also a 1985, but that does not get many runs due to it's small run district. Plus, that has to be a special order do to it's size I presume to get up on the boardwalk. Just an oberservation.
