DCFD Photos, old or new
Does anyone have any news on how bad the damage to the John Glenn is? For those that don't know one of the local tour boats had a little collision with the Glenn and an FBI boat and DC Harbor Patrol boat, while attempting to reposition at it's dock.

This rig was the last open-bed truck and last Pirsch (after a 40-year run). The Shops added a facing jumpseat on the driver’s side to keep the sixth man off the running boards. The last time I saw it we were using it as a reserve!! It was a bad little truck that I know I enjoyed driving!!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> I know one of the shifts had problems with it and I havent seen it since!! That was back in 95 or 96. Honky Tonkman was still at 9 before he went home to R2 to retire!

Last time I saw S-366, I was driving it back from Baltimore. Tranny kept overheating, McDonald said 'baby it back'. Yea, OK. We made it down Rt. 1 to College Park's new house, called the shop and had them tow it.



Seniority ranked, so I ended up tillering her for the tow truck guy back to the shop.



As Kevin said, was a rare piece. I was told 3 were made, and the shops added the extra seat on S-366. Never heard anything on the other 2, might have been a fallacy.



I'm kind of surprised a retired DC Chief, who has the initial Frank Tremel <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />, is not aware of its last whereabouts. I'm sure it's in bad shape, but hopefully didnt end in a pond like that Loudoun County rig.

DCFD guys. This thread is amazing. You really took us on a journey through the world of DCFD with all these pics and captions. I think this thread deserves a "sticky". I would hate to have to scroll down 10 pages to see such a well put together piece. Ed sticky this please!!!

He also says, 15' hole, $93,000 estimate to repair in Baltimore. Not too bad actually, considering ho much she's worth. I hope to take pics of her in the Patapsco this week.

It is out of service for an indeterminate time...

The DCFD acquired eleven Seagrave wagons in 2006 with two-stage Waterous 1250-gpm pumps driven by a Detroit Series 60 diesel, and 500-gallon water tanks. The 28’2” rigs have the standard 163” wheelbase and Federal Q sirens.



The chief identifier distinguishing these wagons from the previous twenty-eight Seagraves is the short door. DCFD Serial No.s S-162, 163, and 165 through 173 were assigned to Engine Companies 16, 21, 24, 25, 7, 4, 8, 27, 32, and 33.
