You are absolutely correct. Akron valves were placed on wagons in 1991 and, for a period, pumpers responded only to Box Alarms (DC nomenclature for a full response). The use of any 2-piece company was discontinued starting (I believe) February 1, 1992 and the valves were used, per SOP, exclusively . I dated the picture wrong. Egan was driving; maybe he remembers. Somebody in the 4th Battalion had His & Her Hahns during that period – either Engine 4 or Engine 11.
