General Alarm, New Bedford, MA 16 Wasburn St., 11/26/20
Posted by: edburke - 11-26-2020, 02:47 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (25)

Mid-morning on Thanksgiving, New Bedford fire responded for a building fire with reports of explosions in the rear.  The second alarm was struck prior to arrival and the general alarm sounded shortly after arrival.  Companies found heavy fire in the bulding of origin, a 3 story wood frame, exposure 2, a 1-1/2 story wood frame and exposure 4, another 3 story wood frame.  An interior attack was attempted, but companies had to be withdrawn shortly after, due to the heavy fire conditions and a concern for collapse.

Rumors on scene were that the fire started in a turkey fryer that had been set up in the yard behind the building of origin.

The police had the scene locked down tight, but were decent to the photographers. Lots of long lens stuff here.

So I was just perusing ebay and came across this listing:

which kind of looked familiar.  A review of Firepics found this post:  https://www.firepics.net/MyBB/showthread.php?tid=2087&pid=213252#pid213252

So I sent a message asking for photo credit-figured I could get the site some exposure.  Here was the reply:

So, now this person who is using my photo to sell a product is automatically assuming I am looking for money and has the audacity to demand proof that the photo is mine?  The request for photo credit was withdrawn and a demand for the photo to be removed immediately was made.  I may be a jerk in my demand, but WTF?

  Arnprior Fire Department
Posted by: PriorMike - 10-19-2020, 12:03 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (8)

The Arnprior Fire Department is located in Arnprior, Ontario about 30 minutes West of Ottawa, Canada's Capital. The Department has a full-time Chief, Deputy Chief, Fire Prevention Officer and 40 volunteers. It is dispatched by the Brockville Fire Department dispatch centre.

All of the following photos are mine unless noted otherwise.

We'll start off with the Pumper, a 2015 Spartan Metrostar X/Arnprior Fire Trucks 1250/750 pump.

Hazleton, PA 551 W. Broad Street, 17-Oct-2020 Structure Fire
Posted by: nozzleman - 10-18-2020, 08:44 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (7)

On Saturday, 17-October-20 the Hazleton Fire Department was toned out for a "couch on fire" and it was reported that all residents had evacuated the structure.

First arriving Engine found a burning cushion on the sidewalk with the residents standing around it, they also found the window frame and part of the wall on fire in living room. The brothers had the fire knocked down fairly quickly and sent about an hour overhauling the living room and clearing the two units of smoke. The American Red Cross provided shelter for the six adults and two dogs displaced by the fire.

  RIP Firepics Yahoo Group
Posted by: edburke - 10-16-2020, 08:04 PM - Forum: Non-Fire Service related - Replies (2)

I know that the Firepics Yahoo Group hasn't been active in years, but prior to this board coming into existence it saw several thousand posts per month.  Yahoo was the successor to eGroups wgere Firepics was initially founded.  A lot of good people, great discussions and, of course, awesome photos were shared before this site was even a thought.

Yahoo will be permanently shutting down the Groups on December 15, 2020.  They have already deleted the archives, but the memory will go on and I figured recognition of this ending was appropriate.

Rest in Peace Firepics Yahoo Group, we've got it from here.
