Since there are so many fire apparatus in Metro Phoenix, most of which are just waiting to be photographed (I'm working on it...slowly), I thought that the 6th largest US City (14th largest Metropolitan area) deserved it's own topic.

I am consiodering the purchase of a 1965 pumper, with original red paint. The truck has been sitting outside, and has some minor fade/paint oxidation. Thankfully, it hasn't turned pink yet!



I'd like to keep it as original as possible. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to use to restore the paint (close to) its original luster, without damaging the gold leaf striping?

On another website I visit it was stated that Boston has ordered 3 rearmounts from KME. I know the recent pumpers have been KME but aside from the Pierce years I thought Boston was pretty loyal to E\-One with ladder trucks.

Just read that Boston has placed an order with KME for 3 new ladders. Can anyone confirm this?
