Here is the TDA that I recently purchased. Haven't had a chance to take it out for good photos, but I needed these to get the tags done.

  FDNY New pumpers.........
Posted by: 1958 F.W.D. - 02-27-2012, 10:44 PM - Forum: Apparatus Scuttlebut - Replies (194)

NYC DOP has issued a RFP for approx 90+ pumpers for FDNY. 3 year contract for approx 50 the first year, 35 the second year and 5 the third year. Bidders in ascending order of cost were:

-KME

-Ferrara

-Seagrave.

Bid has not been awarded as of this time. Once again the 5 year contract is a sticking point.

Phoenix, Arizona Fire Stations (City of Phoenix only)
Posted by: Image7801 - 02-02-2012, 03:45 PM - Forum: Fire Station Photos - Replies (45)

Thought I'd start a City of Phoenix FD Station thread. I'll start a separate one for Phoenix metro fire stations.

This one will probably take a long time to complete, as Phoenix has 57 fire stations spread out over 500+ square miles, and I haven't shot most of them yet.

I originally wanted to do them in numerical order, but that won't be possible, so I'll try to do them geographically, starting with the west side battalions.

First up:

Station 60 - 2405 W. Townley Ave (near I-17 and Dunlap Ave) - Battalion 8

Two engine house, home of Engines 960 and 910, and Rescue 60. There is no Engine 60 right now (that's why Engine 910 is running there). This is a beautiful station, equipped with great bi-fold bay doors.

  Scotchlite Problem

I asked about this in the past but did not get a definite answer. A friend told me he increased the out put of his flash and noted an improvement. Since I have been using only the on-camera flash, I decided to buy an external flash. It made a huge difference as you will see from the attached images.

  Rehabilitation Units
Posted by: stokess - 01-13-2012, 01:13 AM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (42)

Saw a picture in one of the PA threads and it got me thinking about seeing how many rehab's there are out there. I did a search and didn't find any topics for Rehabilitation Units and since there are a few of them out there I thought I'd start a thread and see how many we can get.

I'll start with ours - Fairfax County, VA Fire and Rescue Rehab 413.

A 2009 Mack with a Pierce box, 37 feet long, 12'6" tall, has two doors with retracting stairs, two work stations, benches, storage and a freezer inside. Twin awnings, misters in the body, body levelers and a single pole 6 head light mast. She's a beast and I'm sure some of the others from Fairfax will chime in with some thoughts on it - not sure I would have bought it but I believe in making the most of it since we have it.

  Boston Multiples
Posted by: maxim - 01-08-2012, 11:53 AM - Forum: Department Scuttlebut - Replies (6)

Here is some trivia that may be of interest to a very few folks.

Boston ran about 43 multiple alarms in 2011. Down some from the hundreds they ran in "War Years" but for any number of mostly positive reason the number of big ones is declilning.

Here is a list of units first due at each fire. This does not mean they arrived first or that the fire was in their first due area. On at least one occsion there were close to simultaneous multiples in the Dorchester are where 17 and 18 would have been first due but 3 was first due, probably from a cover assignement.

E-17 5

E-42 4

E21-33-37 3

E4-5-9-16-18-52 2

E3-7-8-10-22-28-39-41-48-49-50-51-56 1

Every body else 0 including Fort Dudley and Grove Hall

L-7 8

L-6 4

L-10-21 3

L-2-4-15-17-18-23-24-26-28 2

L-1-9-11-14-19-25-29 1

L-16 the only Truck without a first due multiple

District 7 10

District 8-9 6

District 1-4 5

District 3 4

District 12 3

District 6-11 2

This year maybe I will track all multiples and have first due as a seperate category. My conundrum is weather to count details companies on each multiple? for very large fires some units may get two or three multiples for one fire.

Comments are welcomed

Happy New Year
