  Tankers and Tenders
Posted by: Guest - 01-30-2011, 08:38 AM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (868)

Growing up in a rural area , I always thought how hard it must have been before they had a truck that could carry water to the scene of a fire . There are some departments that have never had to worry about having a water supply . Big cities usually have great hydrant systems and carrying water on a engine is often a waste of space or added weight to the truck , but when it comes to mutual aid to a rural areas they are lost often not even carrying suction hose to draft . Most departments in rural areas often have at least one tanker that supplies the engines and aerials at a fire . I thought it would be nice to have this section to show past and current water supply tankers , tenders or tanker / pumpers .

First example : Howells, New York once ran this 1967 International/ Amthor tanker - 1650 gallon tank

  1941 Mack Type 25
Posted by: Guest - 11-23-2010, 09:59 AM - Forum: Member's Rigs/restoration Projects - Replies (21)

This 1941 Type 25 Mack was just purchased by a friend of mine. It will be fully restored. It came from the Reliance Hose Co. in Glassport, PA but not sure if they are the original owners? He purchased it from a scrap yard about 30 miles north of Dubois, PA. The scrap yard told him that a gentleman purchased the hose wagon in 1978 drove it to his house and parked it in a barn where it sat until being towed to the scrap yard. Does anyone have any more pics or information on it? Does Reliance still exist in Glassport?

Fellow Firepixer "firemag" and I headed out last Friday to Urbanna, VA for the Oyster Festival Parade. Along the way we stopped at a couple of stations in Middlesex County, dodging clouds all the while. This first batch are from the Upper Middlesex Vol. Fire Department in Waterview. This department originally featured all yellow apparatus, but after purchasing a Ford C/E-One from another department, decided they liked the paint scheme on the new arrival and adopted it as their own.

Posted by: Guest - 10-30-2010, 01:05 AM - Forum: Member's Rigs/restoration Projects - No Replies

Bruce Anderson told me about this nice little 1975 Dodge Power Wagon/Hamerly 250/200 mini pumper for sale in Lebanon County, PA on EBay. Former Citizens FC of Avon, PA. 15,000 original miles. Was originally listed for $7K but received no EBay bids. Now at no reserve. Looks like a nice little truck.

If I only had a place to put it.............

If anyone is interested, I have more info on when it was new etc.

EBay listing # 190461289460.

Would like to see it go to a nice home rather than be parted out or scrapped.

Despite numerous searches, I couldn't find a thread dedicated to Houston Fire Department apparatus photos. I was sure there was one, and if there is, please link me to it (and moderators, if you could merge)

Anyway, took a quick trip to Houston today. Let's start with Ladder 68, a 2010 Pierce Arrow XT 100' Aluminuum Aerial Pierce Job #23 107-1 assigned to Ladder 68. (Thanks to the guys at Station 68!)
