Train Photography

I don't know if any of you are in to train photography, but I certainly am. I love shooting trains, especially my local commuter railroad here in Metro NY, Metro North Railroad.

Here are some of my photos, some of them taken today.

I'm very proud of this shot, I've always wanted to add a real Sperry car to my collection, and on my photo hunt today, I shot this one at a siding in Hastings.

As always, all my train and other photos can be seen on my photo gallery, http://www.x635Photos.com

  Charlie Black's Crown Coach
Posted by: YeOldeEnjine - 12-06-2006, 07:39 AM - Forum: Member's Rigs/restoration Projects - Replies (44)

While digging thru some old photos I came across a disk of shots Charlie had me take. The photos ended up being submitted to Code 3.

I know the rig is from the West Coast, but that is about it when it comes to the spec's.

I only drove it once and that was when I took it from the downtown shop up to Charlie's Ranch where these photos were taken.

Hope someone finds these interesting!

I got a few apparatus shots when I shot Richmond’s stations a couple of months back. Richmond operates under the Total Quint Concept, operating 20 of the rigs. All but Quint 5 are ladders, Quint 5 is a rear mount tower.

First up, Quint 13. Pierce Dash 2000/??/105ft.

Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Dept. Leftover Mashed Potato Casserole
Posted by: 1958 F.W.D. - 11-26-2006, 03:11 PM - Forum: Firehouse Kitchen - No Replies

FINALLY! DONT THROW OUT THE LEFTOVER MASHED POTATOES!!!!!!!!!!

I named this after my last hurrah as a Career Federal FF. I spent 6 years at the US Army Fire Dept at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.

APGFD "Loaded" Mashed Potatoe Casserole

This is enough to make a standard 9x13 pyrex glass dish.

5 and 1/2 cups leftover mashed potatoes

1 8oz package cream cheese, softened

8 oz. sour cream

1 tsp. granulated garlic or garlic salt

1/2 cp. milk

2 tbs. dried parsley flakes

1 cp. grated cheddar cheese

1/2 cup bacon- cooked crisp and crumbled. (Note: the pre-packaged Hormel Bacon Bits found in the salad section of the store works also. Use one entire "small" package.)

In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except cheese and bacon. Blend with electric mixer until smooth. Spoon into lightly greased 9x13 dish. Top with the cheese and bacon. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. 8-12 servings.

An excellent side dish for almost any recipe that would call for baked potatoes!!!!!

  Baltimore City Fire Department

My old friend, Duane Troxel of Robbinsdale, MN, visited the IAFC Convention which was held in Baltimore in 1973. When he was there he photographed the entire department in slides. Last week I scanned all of his Baltimore slides.

In 1973, Baltimore had many rigs still in service that were 30 years old. A huge order of apparatus the next year would greatly reduce the age of the Baltimore fleet. While there, Duane was able to shoot apparatus that was still around from the 30s, including this 1933 Mack BQ model tractor that was used to pull the 1898 Hale water tower.

I have a bunch of pics and wasn't sure where to post them so I'll start a new thread. Figured if we have NJ EMS, I should represent law enforcement too. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/police.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Police' />

If anyone else has police pics from NJ, feel free to add them.

  Taco Soup
Posted by: Guest - 10-21-2006, 02:04 PM - Forum: Firehouse Kitchen - Replies (3)

This is good for cool days. Easy, cheap and you can make as little or as much as you need.

2 cans each - Black, Chili, and Pinto Beans

2 cans - Shoepeg Corn, drained

2 cans - Tomatoes

2 cans - Rotel w/Green Chlies

2 pks - Hidden Valley Ranch

2 pks - Taco Seasoning

4 lbs - any cooked meat - Beef, Deer, Turkey, Sausage

2 - Med. Onions, chopped

2 tsps - Garlic (fresh or powder)

Salt and Pepper to taste

Put it all together and heat it up! Add shredded chedder.

You can reduce it and make a dip, add Sour Cream and Guacamole to taste.

These amounts serve 8.

I usually make it with a few pans of Cornbread, Fritos or Tortilla Chips.
