  Need help from Boston people
Posted by: Bryce - 03-07-2014, 12:21 AM - Forum: Non-Fire Service related - Replies (2)

My wife and I are going to be taking a trip to the NE this June.  I know there's tons of Boston area people on the boards -- can I get some advice on where to stay, where not to stay, things to do, etc in the Boston area?  We're likely going to have three full days to spend there until we head up to Vermont.  We were both history majors in college so we're looking for cool historical stuff to see, which I know there's tons of in the Boston area.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.  Feel free to PM as well.

Working Barn Fire, Howard County, MD.-March 2, 2014
Posted by: BCFDphotoman - 03-04-2014, 02:43 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (18)

At around noon on Sunday March 2nd Howard County dispatched a box assignment for a reported barn fire in the 15100 block of Roxbury Road in the Glenelg section of the County. Units arrived on the scene reporting a 75' X 100' barn with a working fire. As there are no hydrants in the area a water supply was set up on the property and tankers shuttled water from 2 water cisterns in the area. Companies used handlines and knocked the fire down from the exterior until the integrity of the structure was determined to be safe. A firefighter using a tractor on the site pulled the hay bales out of the building and crews wet them down away from the barn. No injuries were reported but 5 sheep were killed in the blaze.

Hazard Reduction Burn, Advancetown (QLD) 8-17-13
Posted by: Guest - 03-01-2014, 02:03 AM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (13)

Back in August we assisted at a hazard reduction burn over several properties with approx 10 appliances from 5-6 brigades. I was one of the sector bosses working with 4-5 trucks. The western edge we had a 330m hoselay down very steep terrain. Thankfully the owners had organised breaks before the planned burn

Does anyone have pictures of what West Texas is running now? I remember reading about a donated Pierce Contender tanker demo, and atleast one other donated used apparatus.

I also started a thread in the apparatus scuttlebug area if you have any information.

Thanks in advance,

John "Will" Schowengerdt.
