Well, it kind of scares me that they've ventured away from Sutphen at all, even if this is just a one-off thing. What will it be for, anyone know?

Plane Crash & Fire, Aurora CO 3/19/14
Posted by: Guest - 03-20-2014, 05:40 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (18)

Yesterday afternoon a plane was seen doing many dramatic, low altitude tricks and spins near County Line Road & Piney Lake Road.  It drew the attention of many people in the area who were all subsequently watching when it crashed.  The area is a nightmare of jurisdictional boundaries which caused a lot of duplicated response and confusion initially.

Aurora Firefighters were dispatched first, then South Metro and lastly Rattlesnake.  Units from 3 counties responded to different locations for the same crash that people saw from different vantage points.  The first unit on scene was Aurora Arson 1 who found an airplane fully engulfed and 2 acre brush fire with slow spread.  Aurora Truck 14 made a little off road journey and was able to park within pre-connect distance and pull a line.

First shot walking up (sorry for the bad lighting)

Impressive House Fire, Elizabeth CO 3-19-14
Posted by: Guest - 03-19-2014, 11:31 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (16)

This afternoon I heard Elizabeth Fire toned to a residential structure fire.  Chief 271 immediately requested a 2nd Alarm and reported flames & smoke visible from miles away.  My father lives in the area which is quite far from my house so I "dispatched" him to the call.  Crews found a large 2 story with walk-out house fully engulfed on arrival.  With no hydrants a tender shuttle was needed.

My Dad's view from his neighborhood right after we got off the phone...

  Ebay rant
Posted by: BFD1151 - 03-17-2014, 06:53 PM - Forum: Rants and Raves - Replies (8)

I'm not sure what is going on over on Ebay and I'm hoping someone can explain this me. Has anyone noticed apparatus slide/photos in general going for way more than what they are worth? I get certain pictures from MD, PA, VA, NY, etc will always sell good but apparatus photos from NC/SC?????

A while back someone was on Ebay auctioning a lot of 20 photos from across North Carolina. None of the shots were unique and I bid on what I thought was fair. About 3 minutes before the auction ended someone else started bidding way up so I kept going as well. The photos sold to the other guy for close to $80!!!!! 20 photos for $80 not including shipping!

Then yesterday I bid on a lot of prints from Maryland as well as 2 lots of slides. Only one photo/slide was shown so you didn't know what else was in the lot, only it would be from MD. Same thing, they went to $58 and $62 to the same bidder. Who was that kind of money to blow on slides?

I work hard for my money but I cannot afford to spend the outrageous prices going for photos and slides on Ebay. Has certain buffs struck it rich or is there a lot more shill bidding going on?
