Does anyone know what West Texas is running now? I remember reading about a donated Pierce Contender tanker demo, and atleast one other donated used apparatus.

I also started a thread in the photo requests area if you have any pictures.

Thanks in advance,

Baltimore Rowhouse Fire Scene w/Snow 2-26-14
Posted by: Guest - 02-27-2014, 12:29 AM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (7)

I was driving into work this morning, stopped at a red light and looked at my phone.  Saw pages for a fire on a street that I knew I was near.  Quick GPS checked showed I was about 5 minutes away.  Fire was knocked by the time I arrived but got some decent scene shots and pics of apparatus with snow.

Around 830 am on Wednesday, February 26 as an early morning light snow was tapering off in Baltimore, BCFD units were dispatched to Box 46-9 for a reported fire at 3700 Spaulding Avenue. Units arrived with smoke and fire showing from a vacant 2-story end-of-the-row dwelling and upgraded the response to a Working Fire. The fire extended to the roof area but an aggressive attack kept the fire to the building of origin.

With just around a month and a half before the show, it's almost here. Who is planning on attending this year? I will be there Thurs., Fri., and Sat. hopefully with 3 days, I'll finally be able to shoot everything that I want, and not feel rushed in an 8 hour period. If anyone wants to meet up for lunch, dinner, etc. send me a PM and I will forward my information. I only live about an hour from the show, anyone wanting to shoot some typical Midwest apparatus is more than welcome to come up on a day prior, and I can get you to about any department in the county!   Prescribed fire and initial attack fire Sacramento Refuge (CA) 2-25-14
Posted by: Aaronw - 02-26-2014, 02:04 AM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (26)

Today my engine went to help out with a prescribed burn at the Sacramento Wildlife Refuge (US Fish & Wildlife Service) near Willows, CA. The refuge is just east of the Mendocino NF and is dispatched by the forests ECC, so we frequently share resources.

As we wrapped things up, the local fire department requested mutual aid for a fire about 10 miles north of our burn. As we were already there and this new fire threatened to burn onto the refuge we were invited to come along as an additional refuge engine.

The burn was quite interesting to me being quite different from the forest burns I'm used to. For one thing we were burning stuff surrounded by water, so instead of walking, we rode in an air boat. The firing method was the same though, drip torch plus an occasional bit of prop wash from the boat to get in going when it was reluctant to burn.

  Fatal 2nd+ alarm fire, Winston-Salem, NC 2-23-14
Posted by: BFD1151 - 02-24-2014, 07:12 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (17)

Yesterday while listening to the scanner I heard an apartment fire getting boxed out about 10 min from my house. At around 1400 hours, the "2nd alarm" (I use that term loosely since we do not have a structured alarm system) came out on Huntingreen Lane near Robinhood Road in Winston-Salem so I decided to take in the fire.

Reports on the radio said at least 2 people jumped out of the 2nd floor window to escape. Unfortunately, a wheelchair bound man in a 1st floor apt did not make it out. The cause is still under investigation.

View when I first pulled up...

Thought I'd share a few pics of the start of the new year for New Creek. Although the majority of our incidents are EMS, we have caught a few serious calls.

First pic is of a fatal accident along Rt 93
