Behind the fence rigs
Posted by: BFD1151 - 01-16-2014, 10:42 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (91)

I was thinking there was already a topic on this but could not find it. If you have any private industry rigs, feel free to post them.

I will start the topic off with one of the few industrial trucks I've shot, although it isn't very unique. I'm not sure if this one is still around or not.

 Berwyn IL 2nd Alarm 6212 Cermak 1/16/14

6200 Block of Cermak at "oh my god it's early" this am...I suspect this fire was in for a bit before I heard about it. I arrived just as the roof went in It was snowing just enough so I really couldn't use flash, so they are all available light shots. Oak Park tower, 2 Berwyn ladder pipes. Looked like the members were in both exposures and I suspect communication was minimal although I really don't know for sure.

 Pagers or scanners
Posted by: Guest - 01-16-2014, 06:25 PM - Forum: Q & A - Replies (3)

Hello,

Im brand new to this forum and site. I have a question, I am currently on a volunteer fire department inactive squad. Right now I do not have a pager and really enjoy taking pictures of firefighters and them working. So, I am wondering how everyone gets paged out, do you have contacts, a pager, a scanner? Is there a way to set up getting pages?

Thanks

Tiffany

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but its worth a shot. Does anyone have the current list of apparatus and station assignments for the Edison Township Fire Dept?

was browsing through firenews.org and looking at the roster for manchester fd it says trucks 3,5,6,7 are crossed staffed by the associated engine. Are they crossed staffed due to budget cuts or its just the way they run those trucks.

Building Fire at Stevenson University - Owings Mills, MD 1/9/14
Posted by: Guest - 01-12-2014, 06:02 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (8)

Shortly before 5:30pm Thursday, January 9, Baltimore County westside fire units were dispatched to a reported building fire at Stevenson University in Owings Mills on Campus Circle. First-arriving Engine 312 from Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Company reported fire in the roof area of a maintenance storage building adjacent to the athletic field complex. Incoming engines laid lines and firefighters made an aggressive attack to hold the fire to only part of the building. Units also responded from Baltimore County Fire Department stations 2, 14, 18, 19 & 56, and from Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company, Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company & Chestnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Company.

Unfortunately I was coming from work downtown and had to battle rush-hour traffic. There was not much radio traffic and after the initial report not many updates so I wasn't sure if it was worth going to. Finally decided to "step it up" when PVFC Tower 323 reported fire thru the roof. Got in with the 1st engine on the Working Fire Dispatch but it was mostly knocked.

At 0208 Eng. 7 and Truck 7 was dispatched to a rollover accident at 145th Ave. and Powell Blvd. An SUV had gone through a chainlink fence, overturned and slammed sideways into a large tree. The driver was trapped in the wreckage. Engine 31 was dispatched to established protection lines. Truck 7 ordered another truck for additional tools.

It took about 25 minutes to extricate the driver who was a trauma entry at the hospital.
