  Richmond, VA Rescue 1
Posted by: Guest - 12-30-2013, 10:20 AM - Forum: Apparatus Scuttlebut - Replies (9)

Browsing some photos on Flickr I see that Richmond's Rescue 1 is now running out of Station 13:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/pearsaab/se...9174936024

I visited Richmond about a year ago and they were still running from Fire Station 1.  Have they been permanently reassigned to station 13?  What happened to Rescue 3?

Any info would be appreciated.

Best-

Trevor

Bill Friedrich Chicago FD Photos For Sale
Posted by: Guest - 12-29-2013, 12:12 PM - Forum: Trading Board - Replies (3)

Hello All!!  I currently am working on downsizing my collection a little bit.  I am hoping these items can find good homes where they can be enjoyed.  I have a large collection of Chicago FD photos.  The collection includes the following that were current as of about 4/5 years ago:

Every Firehouse in Chicago

Every Engine Company

Every Truck Company

Every Squad Company (Including ARFF)

Numerous Special Units

The collection also includes numerous departments with black over red apparatus as well.  There are well over 250 pictures in this collection.  If anyone is interested in the collection (4 Albums Total) please let me know and we will discuss pricing.  I would prefer to sell this as a collection as that is how I bought them.  If you would like a list and some pics of what is in each I can also compile a list.  Please let me know.

Thank you,

Michael Bastian

RR Boxcar for delivering Fire Apparatus - 1947
Posted by: YeOldeEnjine - 12-29-2013, 10:56 AM - Forum: All Other Photos - Replies (11)

I recently was given some negatives for the 1940's. In this group was an envelope marked "Huge Boxcar 08/14/47

The photo appears to have been taken at the Western Maryland Freight House in Cumberland, MD.

After asking for information on a Railway Preservation website, I was given the following information.

PRR Class X-30, 59861. Inside Length: 70'6" Inside Height: 10'0"
There was exactly one of these. It was used specifically to transport fire engines from American LaFrance in Elmira NY. Full width doors on the 'A' end allowed even the longest ladder trucks of the day to be carried inside.

Further searching found this photo of a couple of 700 series ALF's being unloaded in Cumberland.

Old FDNY pumper currently in Nova Scotia
Posted by: Guest - 12-28-2013, 05:08 PM - Forum: Q & A - Replies (1)

Greetings, everyone. A question for the FDNY buffs out there. There's a former FDNY Mack currently serving Walden, Nova Scotia. It's a 1980 Mack CF611, additional details below. After its FDNY service, it was refurbed and sold to Chester Basin, Nova Scotia in the early 90s (possibly via Almonte Fire Trucks) and later sold to Walden.

So here's the question - in my notes, I have it as FDNY Engine 92. A friend researching the history of the truck hasn't been able to find anything indicating that this is the case - E92 apparently used an ALF. I have no idea where I got the E92 info.

Appreciate it if anyone has any idea where this truck served while in NY. Here are some serial numbers:

CF611F10 chassis

Chassis #2071

Pump #59415

Delivery date 6/18/1980

Much thanks,

Dean

  Church Fire- Baltimore, MD. 12-27-2013
Posted by: BCFDphotoman - 12-27-2013, 06:21 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (12)

Around 3:30 this morning Engine 4 and Truck 29 responded to an automatic alarm from the Northwood-Appold United Methodist Church at Cold Spring Lane and Loch Raven Blvd. in northeast Baltimore. When they arrived they were greeted with heavy smoke blowing across the intersection and when they entered the church there was heavy smoke and heavy fire at the ceiling level. They set up a portable monitor pipe at the front door and asked that the full box assignment be struck out.

Shortly thereafter subsequent alarms were struck out up to the fourth.

Here's when I arrived, most of the roof was burnt off and the inside still fully involved:

  House Fire WICHITA KS (12/7/13)
Posted by: Athomas5784 - 12-26-2013, 10:50 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (18)

Wichita Fire Dept crews were dispatched to a House Fire at 2010 N. Stoney Pt. around 11:30pm on 12/7/13. This address was only 2 miles from my home, so I made it out on the main road just to be passed by both units from WFD Firehouse 17. Engine 16 arrived on scene and gave fire showing from the rear of the house. Engine 16 was fire attack. Battalion 4 was command. Truck 4 was ventilation. Quint 21 was water supply. Quint 17 was search and rescue. Squad 17 assisted fire attack. Battalion 1 was safety. The fire spread very quickly to the attic and a lot of crews pulled ceiling to expose the fire. All searches were negative. Sedgwick County Squad 33/Engine 33 were also on scene.

There was heavy fire on the first floor in the rear. Crews worked hard opening up to find all the hidden fire. The fire extended to the second floor and attic. Crews used 4 1 3/4" handlines. An extra engine and ladder were dispatched. The fire was called under control at 0844.
