Firefighters were dispatched to the above address just before midnight, they were notified in route of multiple calls being received.  First due Engine 21 arrived to find the number one side of the dwelling with heavy fire showing.  I arrived just as they knocked it down with a 2.5 hand line.

NASA LADEE Launch Wallops Island VA 9-6-13

I was in Ocean City MD for the launch of the NASA's LADEE (Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Envirmonent Explorer).  I set up at the inlet which is about 20-30 miles north as the crow flies.  I was only able to get one long exposure of the launch.  Since this was a last minute trip I was not able to scout out a good location.  I had to rely on my gut feeling for the best location.  I have never seen a launch in person.  There is one less item on my super long bucket list.

Question for anyone with knowledge of the Springfield, IL Fire Department.
Posted by: DaveYoung - 09-06-2013, 01:42 PM - Forum: Apparatus Scuttlebut - Replies (7)

How is the department implementing the ems squads? Are they stationed with the truck companies and staffed by the truck companies? I've read some articles from the on-line version of the local paper, but they don't get into much detail. Thanks in advance.

  York County, PA 2nd Alarm - 8/17/13
Posted by: Guest - 09-03-2013, 09:33 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (9)

On Saturday, August 17, 2013, around 1100 hours, fire apparatus from across Central Pennsylvania were arriving at the staging and judging area for the annual York County Fireman's Convention parade hosted by the Leo Fire Company (Red Lion) and Goodwill Fire Company (York Township) when a column of smoke could be seen. York County Fire Dispatch alerted units for smoke in the area of Springwood Road near Interstate 83. First arriving FD units reported a working structure fire in a 2-story vacant house on Chestnut Hill Road several thousand feet down a side road and requested additional resources. Initial firefighting efforts were hampered by water supply issues and limited access and command requested a second alarm as the fire grew in intensity. Many units responded from the parade area to assist on the fire, including some from neighboring counties and an aerial truck from Abingdon in Harford County, Maryland.

I'm taking the family to the Fame Fire Co. 175th Anniversary Parade in September and I was wondering if any veterans photographers can help me out. I am looking for a great spot to set up along the parade route for taking photos. If anyone can suggest such a spot it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff
