This evening, while on the way back from a personal errand with a friend, we stopped for fuel off a local exit in Boonton, NJ. We noticed a couple police cars whiz by us, and were able to get a few shots of the MVA they were responding to.
The smaller SUV "t-boned" the Suburban at the back drivers side wheel, as you can see that wheel and axle were both snapped. I don't know the specifics beyond that, as the positioning of the cars and where they came to rest were confusing and PD was still attempting to put the stories together. This accident could have been a LOT worse, but it looks like the safety systems in the cars did their jobs. Both were late model Chevrolet SUV's, and their were only minor injuries. The Suburban had children in car seats that were shaken up but not injured.
This morning we lost one of our military in this wreck. IT was a tuff job working on this bomb proof truck to get this solider out,. God bless him those that were hurt and the members my brothers of the Port Chester NY fire dept that worked this job
Hello all. My department is looking into the possibility of purchasing a mini pumper to replace our light rescue and our water supply rig. What I am looking for are all around photos (all sides, compartments, and basic specs if possible) of mini pumpers that run similar to what we intend (motor vehicle crashes, water supply, first due on tight areas, towing a boat). I would like to see what's out there so we don't overlook something in specification process. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Jamie Middlebrook, Assistant Chief of the New Carlisle Fire Department was killed in the line of duty last night while battling a 2-alarm fire at 5887 N 800 East in neighboring Laporte County. Another firefighter was injured and transported to Michigan City with unknown type injuries.
Chief Middlebrook was making an interior attack of a 1 story polebarn when the roof suddenly collapsed on him. His body was found after he was reported missing during a PAR. He leaves behind his wife and his father, a 40-year veteran and former chief of the NCFD
A story, posted on firetruckblog (part of Statter911) has the Bedford Park,ILL. FD shortly disposing of their 1960 GMC/Pierce/Pitman Snorkel 65' which had Pierce #1202A. Someone is quoted in the article that this unit was originally built for Chicago???, and then sold to Bedford Park.
I know CFD was buying HI-Rangers on Ford chassis at that time, so,can anyone confirm this?
The original CFD GMC/Pierce/Pitman and the 1959 Elwood,IND. Ford C/Pierce/Pitman 65' are certainly more historic.

I purchased the mount last year so I could mount it in my Crown Vic for work. Since then the company I worked for went under and I had some medical issues so now I need to raise funds to pay those off and this is surplus.
To be honest I don't know much about it other than it would have worked in my car with my computer and on the mount that was in the car. I relied on the companies electrical engineer for my information. It's never been out of the bag in the box, if you have nay questions please let me know and I will answer as best I can.
Just finished a 17 day tour of Oregon and Washington, being assigned to the Buzzard Complex near Burns, OR (5 fires for a total of 396,000 acres), reassigned to the Ochoco Complex near Prineville, OR (4 fires for a total of 12,500 acres) and ended my trip on the Carlton Complex in Northern Washington, near Winthrop, WA (4 fires that burned together creating a single 252,000 acre fire, with more than 300 homes lost).
All of these fires were started by lightning.
Arrived at the Buzzard on the day it made a 6 mile run. As sage brush typically does, it nearly put itself out the following day. Due to the size of the fire each day involved a 2 hour drive to the division, and a 2 hour return drive to camp in the evening.
My arrival in Oregon (13 hour drive from my home unit to the ICP in Crane, OR).
Anyone have any decent posed shots of Wilmington NC's new PUC Quiller? They posted a shot of it on their facebook the other day. I was just down there the week of 7/14, had I known they had that I would have made more of an effort to do some buffing. Didn't know they strayed away from Sutphen.
