  LAS VEGAS MASS SHOOTING
Posted by: nozzleman - 10-02-2017, 11:57 PM - Forum: Rants and Raves - Replies (3)

As we all know there was a mass shooting last night here in Las Vegas. Since I live in Las Vegas I wanted to let everybody know I am safe. I did not know about this shooting till this morning.

I was sitting on my patio having a smoke and a cup of coffee. when my upstairs neighbor came down on her way to work and told me about the mass shooting.

Like always I have to say that over the past few hours I have seen the best of Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Metro Fire Departments (Clark County Fire Department, Las Vegas City Fire Department, City of North Las Vegas Fire Department, and the Henderson Fire Department), the private ambulance companies (AMR, Medic West, and Community), Las Vegas Metro Police, Nevada State Patrol, North Las Vegas Police, UNLV Police, and Henderson Police. And private citizens. They all showed what they are made of during this.

As of right now we have 59 dead and 527 injured. I talked with one of our vendors and he said one of the guys he works with his daughter was one of the wounded. She is 20 and she has bullet fragments in her spine. My bosses daughter works on the Strip and she was up all night.

The text chain at work was in full force and thank god everybody I work with is safe. I am sad that a off duty Las Vegas Metro Police officer lost his life last night. I pray for the two that were shot during this. Put most of all I pray for the families of those who were injured or killed. Vegas stepped up to the plate and are doing what they need to do.

I JUST HAVE ONE QUESTION, WHEN WILL ENOUGH BE ENOUGH. WHEN WILL WE HAVE A GOVERNMENT THAT WILL DO WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO STOP THIS STUFF?

The Las Vegas Strip was a war zone last night and this morning.

I am sorry I am really angry and I am sad. My thoughts are everywhere and I hate seeing this happen to my city. This evil guy had over 40 firearm between his hotel room and home. Once again sorry.

  Miami Area Fire Department Trip
Posted by: grubber33270 - 09-29-2017, 11:58 AM - Forum: Fire Service Related - Replies (4)

I am heading on a cruise in the end of October/November. after the cruise the girlfriend and I plan on staying in Miami for a few days to take in some sights. I usually can talk her into letting me stop by a few fire stations as long as it doesn't take up the whole trip and I spend some time with her.

My question is what stations are worth stopping at, probably just looking at the city of Miami and Miami Dade county.

Here is what I have so far:

Miami Dade Engine 3

Miami Dade Station 21 (if they still have the Pierce Velocity Mid mount tower ladder)

Miami Dade Station 39 (Port of Miami) since we see this station every time we cruise.

Miami Engine 3 or 9

I wouldn't mind stopping by the 2 Airport stations at MIA.  Depending on how hard it is to get into them.

I am trying to do a search but didn't the city of Miami just receive a new Mid mount Pierce Velocity tower not to long ago?

What else is worth photographing from city of Miami or county? I love Pierce Velocity apparatus or Impel but really will photo anything.

Any help is appreciated.

  NEVER FORGET . . . .
Posted by: fyreline - 09-11-2017, 10:56 AM - Forum: Fire Service Related - No Replies

Yes, it's been quite a few years. Yes, life goes on.

But let us resolve together that the supreme sacrifice of our fallen brothers on that terrible day - and in the years before and since - will not be in vain, and will never be forgotten. Please take just a moment out of your busy day - right now is OK - and say a small prayer for the brothers that left for work that morning in the full expectation of coming home that evening. But didn't. Some of them were friends of mine. All of them are missed.

  Jacob Organ Fundraiser T-Shirts
Posted by: GA_Dave - 08-29-2017, 09:41 PM - Forum: Trading Board - No Replies

My 4 year old grandson was born with interstitial lung disease (oxygen does not transfer from his lungs to his bloodstream as it should).  He is being treated by a leading Pulmonary Specialist located in Denver, CO.  His parents will be taking him to see this Doctor in October, a trip which will be quite expensive, above and beyond what insurance will cover.  Several fundraising efforts are underway, both locally and nationwide:

The first is a T-shirt sale, with the proceeds going directly toward the expenses of this trip.  All needed info is on this website -

https://www.bonfire.com/jacobs-journey/

We have also established a Go Fund Me page to raise money for this trip -

https://www.gofundme.com/jacobs-journey-...-the-fight

Additional local efforts include fundraisers at the places of employment of my son and daughter-in-law, where a percentage of sales on a specified day will go toward this trip.  Any and all contributions and participation in these fundraising efforts will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Upstate NY and SPAAMFAA, August 2017
Posted by: ladder13 - 08-16-2017, 09:51 AM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (161)

On August 4, my 9 year old son and I came down from Canada to meet up with fellow firepics member Eric Fellows (Eric's Fire Pics) and his 10 year old son for a tour of St. Lawrence County, NY, on our way down to the SPAAMFAA muster in Sackets Harbor. I planned this trip to get into some off the beaten path stations, and we were not disappointed.

As anyone who attended the SPAAMFAA muster can attest, the weather was not the best, brilliant sunshine for a couple minutes, heavy overcast the next, severe thunderstorms and high winds all played havoc during the weekend. We did the best we could with the weather, so some of the following photos may not be posed in sun, as it had disappeared at various times.

We met in the City of Ogdensburg for our first stop. OFD is a career department that runs from a single station in the centre of town.

Engine 1 is a 2005 Spartan Diamond/Crimson 1500/750

  Ward United?
Posted by: Aaronw - 08-13-2017, 07:51 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (12)

So I found this fire engine in Northern California. I didn't recognize the cab. It has a badge on either side that reads Ward United (seen in the second photo). It was on private property and there was nobody around to ask permission to get deeper into the shelter it was parked in so this is all I have.

I've never heard of Ward United and can't find any reference to the company in any of my books or Google.

Sutphen tower with an 888 mars light
Posted by: DualReverse - 08-10-2017, 03:42 PM - Forum: Photo Requests-NO IMAGES IN THIS FORUM! - Replies (1)

Hi guys,

Looking for some help locating a truck to show a friend at a nearby department. It is a mid to late 90's Sutphen platform tower with a single 888 Mars light in the front center of the cab, white lens I believe. I think it was in PA or New England somewhere....

Any ideas?

Thanks!
