Essex, as a county, is very large, much of its apparatus is varied.

I live on the border of east London and Essex, and here are a few vehicles close to me.

LAS VEGAS FIRE AND RESCUE NEW ENGINES
Posted by: nozzleman - 06-28-2017, 08:37 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - No Replies

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue received 5 new Smeal Pumpers in April of this year. I have not been able to get photos of them other than on scene or responding so here is a couple of good ones from their Facebook Page. I spoke with the engineer of Engine 4 and he said they really like the new Smeals so far. I am going to Las Vegas Fire Headquarters tomorrow to see if I can set up a few days to go to the stations and take some photos of the new rigs.

Used with permission from the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Department.

Engines 201,4,9,47, and 107 received the new engines.

I have not been on for a long while, so must apologise for that.

Currently I am in Portugal, and if you have been watching the news, there are fire raging here.

I thought I would post some photo's of the typical firetruck they use here, like the ones you would have seen in the news.

I do not collect details of the trucks, I just shoot the pics, enjoy.

Crash Trucks & Rapid Intervention Vehicles
Posted by: GA_Dave - 06-26-2017, 02:09 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (573)

By request, I am beginning a new thread that will cover these types of apparatus from anywhere and everywhere.  This thread will not cover standard structural or rescue apparatus that serve airports, but only those apparatus that are designed to handle aircraft fires.  These rigs are commonly called ARFF (Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting) apparatus today, but have been called other names in the past.  Also of interest are the various radio designations used by different airports for their apparatus.  I will be posting in groups of five until my supply runs out.  Feel free to join in and post those from your collections, or to add any missing information on those apparatus posted.  As usual, any questions you have will be promptly answered to the best of our ability.  Enjoy!

LAS VEGAS, NV 2ND ALARM APARTMENT COMPLEX FIRE 6-25-2017
Posted by: nozzleman - 06-25-2017, 08:58 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (13)

For the third time in three days the Clark County and City of Las Vegas responded to multiple alarm fires. The one on Friday went to 3 alarms and the one on Saturday went to 2 alarms and they were both at local recycling plants. I did not make either of these fires being as they were in areas of town that can be hard to get to.

But today with in the space of an hour there were three fires, one in North Las Vegas that came in while I was photographing Las Vegas Fire And Rescue Station 9 (Engine 9 received one of the new Smeals and I was able to a couple of it rolling out of the Station to this fire.) The second was in the County off of Sahara and Maryland Parkway. I was on my way to that one watching the column of thick black smoke, but it dissipated fairly quickly and while I was waiting at a stop light I checked and they were already releasing companies. At this point the third fire came in and I headed for it. I checked and it had been upgraded to a 2nd Alarm.

I could see some smoke but not the volume that I was expecting and by the time I arrived and parked the bulk of the fire had been knocked down. I was able to get a couple of good photos of the members on the roof of the building opening up with smoke showing.

The first shows the crew of Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Truck 8 on the roof. One of the members can be seen laying on the roof checking for fire in the Attic and some smoke coming out of the hole they had just cut.

I submitted this photo and three others to the Las Vegas Review Journal and they picked up three out of four of the photos. I did not get paid for them but at least they were published on the Online Edition of the paper.

  Columbus Fire Stations 2 & 3
Posted by: johndanger - 06-23-2017, 11:11 PM - Forum: Department Scuttlebut - Replies (6)

What's the latest with Columbus Ohio stations 2 & 3? I know they were split up but they had two engines, two medics, a truck, maybe a rescue, a battalion, an EMS chief. I just saw St. 2 reopened with engine, medic and chief. Is St. 3 still coming back, and with what and where?

PS the two Columbus fire buff sites (*.8m and firehousesofohio) are gone.
