  Interschutz 2015
Posted by: Big Dave - 07-01-2015, 07:06 AM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (57)

Held every 5 years, Interschutz is an international display of fire apparatus.  This year's exhibit in Hannover, Germany attracted 1,500 exhibitors from 51 countries.  Here are some of my images from the event.

The first image is of a tunnel rescue vehicle for the Mont Blanc Tunnel Company.  Built by BAI on a MAN chassis, it carreis 12,150 litres of water and 1,000 litres of foam.  It has 3 driving and 3 steering axles to enable it to operate in the tunnel.

  Fire Protection at Japanese Temples.
Posted by: Guest - 06-29-2015, 09:50 AM - Forum: Fire Service Related - Replies (6)

This huge wooden building is a typical Japanese temple. There are thousands in Japan.

And this is their typical fire protection. The buckets are labelled, "Water for Fire". Every time I see these things I want to post a notice above them, "If this doesn't work, run like hell!".

2015 MSVFA Convention, Ocean City, Maryland
Posted by: Guest - 06-26-2015, 01:13 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (42)

Probably the shortest parade in the 30+ years I've been attending the MSVFA Convention in Ocean City held this past Wednesday, (Chief Time Keeper Kevin Ryer clocked it at 53 minutes). I certainly remember parades lasting 5 hours or more and shooting 30 to 40 rolls of film in one day.

Despite the shortage of rigs, there were plenty of photographers on hand to pose and shoot the apparatus that was there, old and new!

Looking for someone in the Columbus area who might be willing to spend some time on an evening or two visiting a few fire stations.  I will be attending a training scenario at Battelle in Columbus next week.  Will be arriving in the late afternoon, on Sunday, July 20 and staying until Thursday afternoon.  Never been to Columbus before and looking forward to shooting a few rigs in the evenings

Fatal House Fire in Portland 6-16-2015
Posted by: Guest - 06-18-2015, 12:37 AM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (5)

About 2315, Truck 7 was responding to a fire on 82nd Ave. They were on Division St. at about 98th Ave. when they were cancelled.

When they turned around, the tillerman saw a large fire about 100th Ave. and they ordered a box. At 2316 Dispatch transmitted Box 757.

The remaining assignment was E7, 19, 31, 30, T2, R7, C1 & C2. C3 was returning from the first fire and added himself to the box.

Access was up a narrow alley and shortly after Engine 7 stopped, the electrical service to the house fell across the engine and a shed. Fortunately, the wire was well insulated and did not charge the engine.

On the report of someone still inside, Truck 7 began a search. Jasen found a woman on the 2nd floor but was unable to move her because

of her size. The wall below the window had to be cut out in order to remove her. She was removed to an ambulance, but was D.O.A.

  1937 Diamond T/Ward La France
Posted by: IrishTruckie - 06-16-2015, 05:09 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - No Replies

1937 Diamond T/ Ward La France Serial Number 796 Delivered to Falls Township, Bucks County, PA. After searching for a photo of this rig for nearly 4 decades, one was found. There is speculation that this rig is somewhere fully restored. Jon Burzichelli, the Ward La France expert has been contacted, and a response is promised soon. Looking for any other info on the rig, the possible restoration and a Factory Photo.
