  Long Extrication - Portland 7-29-2015
Posted by: Guest - 07-29-2015, 12:34 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (3)

At 0557 Station 2 was dispatched to a pin-in accident on Airport Way at 138th Ave.

They found an SUV that had hit a tree, sideways, directly at the driver's door.

It took 55 minutes to extricate him.

7-25-2015 Cosmopolitan Hotel Fire, Las Vegas, NV
Posted by: nozzleman - 07-25-2015, 09:59 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (34)

This afternoon my wife and I were out shopping and as we were on our way home we saw a large plum of smoke. I told her it looked really close to where we live at and she said that she thought that it was on the stripe (Las Vegas Blvd). I had left my cell phone at home when we left and I have a scanner app on the phone.

The initial call came in at 12:16pm and I listened to the archive tape and I could hear the 1st due Engine say they had a working fire and a lot of smoke showing.

The First Due Engine was Engine 32 which is right next door to the Cosmo.

By the time I got close to the fire this is what I saw as far as smoke conditions being produced. The fire was in the Bamboo Pool area which is on the 14th Floor of the Hotel.

There was not a lot of smoke at this this point and time.

Hi Angle Rescue - Portland 7-21-2015
Posted by: Guest - 07-22-2015, 06:01 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (5)

At 10:30 Portland Dispatch received a call for an injured worker at the 40 foot level of a pressure washing structure. His working bucket had broken loose and badly injured his arm, and his safety harness saved him from falling, too. The Heavy Rescue team was dispatched. Members climbed the structure and packaged him in a Stokes basket that was lowered using a crane that was on the site.

SPAAMFAA convention, Ladder 13 Photo Tour, Aug 1, 2015
Posted by: Guest - 07-22-2015, 09:51 AM - Forum: Fire Service Related - Replies (9)

I am organizing another Ladder 13 photo tour for Saturday afternoon on August 1.  This is open to any member who would like to join us, just as in past conventions.  The SPAAMFAA parade starts at 0900, and arrives by 1000 at Long Branch Park.  There is plenty of opportunity to see and photograph the many antique apparatus that will be on display, as well as time to check out the various displays and vendors.

The first stop of our afternoon tour is lined up for 1230, and is only a few minutes drive from the muster site!  It will follow the same concept as previous Ladder 13 tours, fast and furious!  We will be going to Baldwinsville Fire Department (3 stations), Belgium Cold Springs Fire Department (2 stations) and Moyers Corners Fire Department (4 stations).  I am working on an evening tour as well to another department with 2 stations, more on that if it pans out.

This is open to anyone who wishes to join us.  We can car pool if needed.  This is a great opportunity to meet fellow apparatus buffs and other members of Firepics!  We have had as many as 15 of us on previous tours representing people from all over the US and Canada.

If you wish to do this tour with us, please let me know so I have an idea on numbers, so I can pass that info on to the fire departments we are visiting.

Recently, I was able to photo apparatus from several Connecticut departments.  These pics were taken as part of Mike Quinn's Annual Silver City Fire Fest, which was a monster success.

I'll start with Westbrook Volunteer Fire Department.  Several Mack CFs still in front line service.

Now being im not from this region I dont have a lot of info on some of the Trucks, so feel free to add info or correct what I have down.

with that lets get started. 1st unit in The Parade was Harrisburg's 1935 Mack Tiller
