  Mount Holly, NC Need HELP!
Posted by: apb2148 - 05-23-2015, 10:04 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (8)

Guys

A friend of mine has recently became the chief of Mt. Holly Fire, in NC.  He is trying to find out some information on some of the older apparatus that the dept. once had.  Please let me know if you have any resources to figure this out.

Thanks in advance!

  Various Pennsylvania Rigs
Posted by: jshippey - 05-21-2015, 09:09 PM - Forum: Apparatus Scuttlebut - Replies (3)

Good evening,

I have a few questions for the Pennsylvania folks on here.

1) Lansdowne - Delaware County. I noticed that their heavy rescue is for sale. Are they downsizing or replacing?

2) Butler Township - Butler County - The newly created Butler Township Fire Co - I know they just got a new rescue, what other apparatus plans do they have?

3) York United - York County - with the purchase of the New Engine 89-1, what will happen with the current Pierce?

That's it for now, all info is appreciated.

  Detroit April Buff Trip
Posted by: signal29 - 05-17-2015, 08:27 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (13)

I sorry for posting these late, but here are some highlights from my recent trip to Detroit.  The first fire we caught was a second alarm in a school owned by the Church of God in Christ on Schaefer.  Apparently, someone was trying to steal parts from the AC unit on the roof and started the fire which then spread into the roofing membrane and dropped down to the top floor.

Strange 2-car MVA in Gresham, OR 5-12-2015
Posted by: Guest - 05-14-2015, 10:07 AM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (3)

A few minutes before 4 PM, Gresham and Portland units were dispatched to a report of a car on its roof at 162nd Ave. and Stark St.

A car hit a pole on 162nd Ave. about 150 feet north of Stark St. a major east-west artery. The top 1/3 of the pole broke off and landed behind the car. The impact broke off the top of another pole about 150 feet south of Stark St. That piece of debris was hit by a van that overturned. The female driver was trapped, upside down, suspended by her seat belt. Since there were wires laying on the van, firefighters could not remove the door to rescue her until they were assured the car was not electrically charged. Once it was deemed safe, she was removed and transported to the hospital.

While the gurney was being wheeled to the ambulance, the crowd that had gathered on the sidewalk was cheering and applauding.

The media reported the driver of the first car fell asleep. At 4 PM?

Posted by: Guest - 05-10-2015, 12:42 PM - Forum: Photo Requests-NO IMAGES IN THIS FORUM! - Replies (4)

I tried a search, but haven't come up with any pictures of Miami Dade's Tenders. They appear to be on Sterling chassis, but I was wondering if anyone had any pictures, manufacturer info, specs, etc.

Thanks so much!

05/07/15 West Haven, CT Multi alarm marsh fire
Posted by: signal29 - 05-08-2015, 01:26 AM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (11)

Shortly after 4pm West Haven Fire Department started receiving multiple calls for a brush fire from passing motorists on nearby I-95.  First in companies found a rapidly advancing marsh fire.  The box was filled out bringing additional companies.  An second alarm was requested along with a special call for New Haven's fireboat.  The fire rapidly progressed toward the train track where it burned overhead cantanery wires causing two large electrical arcs.  Train service was halted until the fire could be brought under control.  Ironically, the train tracks would serve as a natural fire break allowing companies and the fireboat to get the control of the blaze.
