  2-11 Windy City Produce - 3340 N Pulaski Ave Chicago, IL - 4/21/15

The couple of guys I talked to when I was there arrived as the still and box companies...and said that there were heavy smoke conditions but they didn't see any visible fire.  I'm GUESSING (someone correct me if I'm wrong, please) that they called the 2-11 due, in part, to the roof beginning to sag during ventilation roof ops, just in case the roof were to collapse and the fire really accelerate from there.

MORE PICS TO COME...this is my one iPhone selfie I opted to take amidst my better photos with my gear.

  Another new E-One product

Looks like the team at E\-One was busy this past year. Not only are they introducing their first steel aerial and enclosed top-mount commercial pumper at FDIC, but what they are calling a completely new cab and chassis design. Appears to be a Hush type concept on steroids.

  Brush Fire near Middleburgh NY
Posted by: upstatefire31 - 04-19-2015, 10:36 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (3)

My g/f and I decided to go for a drive today, thought ok lets go this way and hey why not I'll bring the camera with me, you never know.......LOL      Well as I was driving through a few towns I noticed  the Vollys were out and was wondering where the fire was.....Well.....Here are a few shots from a fast moving brush fire today near Middleburgh NY. I was told it was started by a burn barrel left unattended. The fire quickly moved up the mountain side and within 2 hrs had reached the peak.  Roads had to be built to get rigs into the harder to reach areas.    Lession here: Always bring the camera!   Note:  I was in a great spot for pics and vid but mr policeman told me I had to leave......IDK why because I was never near the fire zone.  Damn Cops!

  Garage Fire in Portland 4-18-2015
Posted by: Guest - 04-19-2015, 02:32 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (2)

Just after 6 A.M. a box was transmitted for a garage fire at 4349 NE 114th Ave.

On arrival, Engine 2 reported heavy smoke showing from a detached garage. From the large column of smoke visible enroute,

it seemed to be a large garage. However, it turned out to be a very small building just big enough for a small, new, compact car.

Thought I would share our current projects that we have going on in Cornelius.  We currently have a new Seagrave tiller in production.  Looking for completion next February or March.

We also sold our 99 Seagrave Apollo and purchased a 96, 100' Rear mount from Old Forge, PA.  This truck was in fantastic shape and has low mileage.  It is currently getting some rehab at Seagrave Carolina.  The rehab is to make the truck fit our needs a little better.  It will be finished by May 1st.  I have attached a link for it as well......and a teaser!

  Tough Extrication - Portland 4-15-15
Posted by: Guest - 04-15-2015, 04:58 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (4)

At 0619 Portland 911 received a call from Portland Police requesting an engine at their training area on Airport Way. When the police had arrived, they noticed a tree at the entrance was broken off and they found a pickup truck that was hidden by the foliage. It had apparently crashed during the night and had gone unnoticed. The driver was deceased.

Engine 2, Truck 2 and Battalion Chief 3 were dispatched. First, the tree was entangled in the wreckage and had to be cut up and removed, then the victim was extricated. The operation took more than 1/2 hour.

The tree had been uprooted and that may be the truck's spare tire embedded in the roots.

The men with black helmets are our Trainees. This was just their 2nd shift on Engine 2 and Truck 2.

The impact separated the cab and the bed by about one foot.

  "Mid-Size" Fire Apparatus
Posted by: Guest - 04-11-2015, 09:52 AM - Forum: Photo Requests-NO IMAGES IN THIS FORUM! - Replies (2)

Does anyone have any pictures of "Mid-Size" Fire Apparatus (if such an animal does exist)?  Presumably something with a Spartan-Furion sized chassis, shorter wheelbase, but still able to carry a full complement of equipment.  I know that there are several manufacturers peddling NFPA 1901 Compliant pumpers on F550 chassis, however I'm looking for something a little larger than that.

Thank you for all of your help!

Ok, it's been almost a year, but I haven't really posted here over the last year so better late than never I guess. I don't remember too many details, but I do recall fire extended up throughout the building through pipes chases and voids. This was a tough interior fight requiring extensive manpower, if I recall Boston sent at least 3 engines and a ladder, 1 pump and 1 ladder from Waltham, a ladder from Newton and engines from Arlington and Medford. I know there was much more mutual aid, but those are the ones I know for sure.
