Working Fire Warick, RI Oakland Beach Ave
Posted by: Guest - 10-31-2013, 04:52 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (10)

Companies responded at approximately 10:30am to a reported structure fire on Oakland Beach Ave. First responding companies had smoke showing from a 20x30 1.5stry wdfrm residential structure. Engine 3 made quick work of the main bulk of fire and reported a k/d. However, companies battled stubborn hotspots for approximately the next 30 min and encountered extensive overhaul. Two occupants were displaced from the home and the Red Cross was called in to assist.

Bragg Creek, Alberta, Canada - fully involved house
Posted by: Guest - 10-31-2013, 12:49 AM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (3)

This was a couple of minutes after our arrival. Fully involved house with the workshop on the delta side and large forest on the charlie. A few trees burned but exposure damage was kept to a minimum. Firefighters from Redwood Meadows (my department) and Foothills Fire Department (Priddis and Heritage Pointe stations) responded with three engines, three tenders and two brush trucks. The fire was under control in under an hour. In this picture the guys were about to advance to the gas meter to shut off the supply to the home.

Sorry, no more pics.... I was our engine operator. B)

  Centennial, CO 2nd Alarm 10/8/13

Not sure why I didn't post this one earlier.  It was a 04:00 fire with multiple RP's reporting flames and explosions from a condo building at Peakview & Dayton.  First due Engine 31 found heavy fire from floors 2 & 3 with vegetation going on the ground level also.  A 2nd Alarm was immediately struck and two 2 1/2 blitz lines were deployed for transitional attack.

Here is a pre-water photo courtesy of a friend on the first due Tower Ladder

Knock down occurred in the first 5 minutes and extensive overhaul work was needed.

  Aurora, CO 2nd Alarm 10/27/13

Aurora Firefighters were dispatched to a reported apartment bedroom on fire at 14896 East 2nd Avenue.  While en-route, dispatch said this was a home daycare with 3 children inside.  First due Engine 8 found a working fire on the 2nd floor, auto exposing the 3rd floor and transmitted a second alarm. E8 advanced an 1 3/4" on tank water to the fire apartment and T8 began searches.  Here is a short, early video clip courtesy of AFD and used with permission.

I arrived about 20 minutes into the incident and only minor overhaul work was going on.  As it turns out, the dispatcher misunderstood the RP who said her 3 children were at day care (not home).

Fire Buff / Historian / Firepixer Rusty Gill passes away unexpectedly
Posted by: Roto-Ray - 10-30-2013, 02:10 PM - Forum: Fire Service Related - Replies (7)

With a heavy heart I pass along the death of Rusty Gill (Firepics ID: Ed Freen) who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly while on a trip with his sons.  No arrangements have been made at this time.

With the passing of Rick Rudisill, Curt Elie, and now Rusty, our hobby and history have certainly suffered some major losses this year.

I'll update this thread as information is passed along.  Assistant Chief Defina of MWAA has been in contact with the Gill family and initially let many in the hobby know of Rusty's passing.

As I started working the Pawtucket photos (yes, I waited until after the game...GO SOX!), Seekonk was dispatched to "Central Avenue, about two blocks from the Hess Express for smoke coming from the roof of a building".  Companies found fire on floor 2 and the attic of a 2 story wood frame dwelling.

Caught this one around 1900 hrs.  Left the house when they started talking about setting up ladder pipes.  Fire was in a large 2-1/2 Story wood frame.

As I walked up, I didn't think I was going to see much.

I decided to repost this thread.  Not sure why it went away.  Hope it wasn't a problem.  I will be posting as I have time.  The City of New Kensington, PA is located in northern Westmoreland County 18 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.  Our department was started in November of 1981.  This is the very "1st" truck of the bureau.  Not sure of the make.
