Chicago FD Places Order For New Ambulances
Posted by: TacSupport1 - 10-17-2013, 07:14 PM - Forum: Apparatus Scuttlebut - Replies (20)

Chicago FD has placed an order with Wheeled Coach for 45 new ambulances.  I've heard it's a mixed order of Type I's and Type III's, with the Type III's being on a Ford E-450 chasis.

Does anyone have further information?

Buffalo, NY 10/16/13 House fire Police lead 5 out before FD arrival
Posted by: sparky - 10-16-2013, 02:04 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (4)

Buffalo Police officers Mark Slawek and Franklyn King from the "A" District rescued 5 people from a burning house at 166 Amber Street on the city's Southside October 16, 2013. The officers arrived before the fire department and found heavy smoke and fire in the enclosed front porch of the house, blocking the front door. They immediately entered the home through the side and back doors and led the occupants to safety. Two occupants of the home were transported to area hospitals for injuries. Firefighters also had a close call at the fire. As fire crews were knocking down the fire, a five gallon container of gasoline stored in the porch tipped over and ignited, briefly engulfing two firefighters. Because of their protective gear, the firefighters were not seriously hurt. The cause is under investigation but appears to have been caused by improper use of flammable liquids. Damage was pegged at $20,000 to the building and $10,000 to the contents.

Cancun Mexico - Hotel District Station
Posted by: wvguy38 - 10-15-2013, 06:01 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (11)

Stopped by the fire station on our honeymoon in Cancun last week. Only one station for the entire hotel district. The station housed a medic unit (outside) and a 1985 Sutphen 100' platform. We didn't get the best of pics, the guys just came back from a run and seemed somewhat tired.

First pic, the quint just returning. The street doesn't allow for much room to turn around.

Warren County Firemen's Day Parade 2013
Posted by: Andrew2340 - 10-12-2013, 03:44 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (27)

Micah and I had the opportunity to go out to Warrenton, NC for their attempt at breaking the Guinness Book of World Records attempt for the longest fire engine parade.  Unfortunately, they didn't quite make the record, but we still got to shoot a lot of fire trucks that day!  Through this topic, Micah and I will give you a run down of what all we saw in the parade.

Bill F, you can appreciate that Micah and I took time before the parade (running around like chickens with our heads cut off) to get full specs on each & every rig that appeared in the parade.  Maybe this will help your database.

Leading off the parade was Raleigh's steamer.  It's not often that you get to shoot a steamer being pulled by a team of horses!

Baltimore City is going to renovate Engine 53's quarters. The house was built in 1921 and occupied on June 30, 1922.

While this is taking place Engine 53 is running out of a building and trailer located a couple of blocks down the road from them.
