12/20/15 New Haven CT 2nd alarm 55 Redfield St.
Posted by: signal29 - 12-21-2015, 10:53 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (7)

12/20/15 New Haven, CT - A quiet Sunday morning shift change in New Haven quickly turned chaotic for firefighters in the hill section of the city. Companies arrived to find a two and a half story, wood frame, occupied dwelling heavily involved in fire and rapidly extending. Several occupants were trapped initially, but were removed by pd with a civilian ladder prior to the fire departments arrival. A second alarm was transmitted as companies started an interior attack because of reports of civilians trapped. Primary searches proved negative as conditions rapidly deteriorated. Members were pulled from the dwelling for an exterior attack. The fire rapidly extended throughout the structure due to balloon frame construction. Multiple hand lines and master streams were operated for over an hour to bring the blaze under control. Several occupants were transported to area hospitals with various injuries. Several more were displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

In addition to selling used fire apparatus, Brindlee Mountain, near Huntsville, AL., also staffs multiple fire & EMS units in their area. Does anyone have pictures of their in service vehicles?

Las Vegas, 2nd Alarm Laundry Facility, 16-DEC-2015 5:22 AM
Posted by: nozzleman - 12-17-2015, 12:06 AM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (7)

This morning as I was just starting to move around the City of Las Vegas got paged out for a fire in the area of 13th Street and Fremont St. This portion of Las Vegas gets a lot of "Structure Fires" that turn out to be nothing more than outside fires or small trash fires so I did not really pay attention to it. I heard next that the address had been changed to 13th Street and Carson. Again this is nothing unusual for this area so I headed outside for a smoke with my cup of coffee.

When I came inside they were toning out the Second Alarm and I hit the road. At one point and time they had fire through the roof as a portion of the roof collapsed, But by the time I got there they had called a knockdown on the fire.

This is the scene as I was walking up to the fire. Now I was facing east so I discarded a lot of photos. And also this is the first time I shot photos of a fire with my new camera. I recently bought a Canon EOS Rebel T5. And this is the first time I did a lot of low light shots with it.

3-ALARM FIRE ANNAPOLIS YACHT CLUB 12-12-15
Posted by: BCFDphotoman - 12-14-2015, 09:25 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (12)

On Saturday around 2:15 PM a fire alarm sounded for a fire in the Annapolis Yacht Club in downtown Annapolis, MD.

It was reported from a worker that an artificial Christmas tree caught fire on the top floor.

Within minutes heavy smoke and fire was showing and the first arriving units asked for a second and third alarm at once.

Units from Annapolis, Anne Arundel County and the US Naval Academy fought the blaze for about 5 hours until it was declared under control.

Two firefighters received minor injuries.

Most of the fire was knocked down when I arrived, but heavy smoke churned from the roof and eventually broke through.

  3-alarm Tanker Fire - Portland 12-13-2015
Posted by: Guest - 12-14-2015, 02:32 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (7)

Around 0950 on a quiet Sunday morning, Portland Dispatch began receiving calls for a large fire on St. Helens Road. As Engine and Truck 22 left quarters they reported a large column of smoke. When they arrived it appeared that a train of tank cars was burning. It was later determined that a tank truck hauling flammable fuel had left the highway, plunged down the banking beside the train and burst into flame. Although the rail cars contained hot asphalt, they remained intact and did not burn. 5 or 6 cars were heavily damaged and 2 or 3 others were damaged.

The last photo shows what remained of the tank truck. It is believed the driver was still in the wreckage.
