American LaFrance Metropolitan Rescue per request
Posted by: Juice - 11-18-2015, 03:45 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (5)

Kris requested photos of the ALF Metropolitan Rescue. While I'm personally a big fan of the older version Metropolitan, the newer version wasn't bad either. Here is a photo courtesy of Frank Wegloski/indianafiretrucks.com. I thought Frank was on here, I know Chris Allen is. While I occasionally shoot and contribute photos to ift.com, there is no way I can see myself going to East Chicago anytime soon, so with that, I'll share a friend's photo.

  ALF Metropolitan Rescues
Posted by: Guest - 11-17-2015, 04:33 PM - Forum: Photo Requests-NO IMAGES IN THIS FORUM! - No Replies

Hello,

While recently browsing some post in the Iowa topic I noticed a ALF Metropolitan Cab rescue.

I was wondering how many rescues were built by ALF on the Metropolitan Cab?  I would love

to see any pics or drawings you guys may have showing any of them out there.  While not the

best looking rig I always appreciated how it was a major departure in apparatus design

(ie:cheese blocks) at the time.

While the cheese block design gets the job done and I do love me a Marauder II, I still find myself

more excited to photograph the oddball cabs ie: Impel, Furion, etc.

Thanks,

Kris

In service with the Walden Fire Department in Nova Scotia.  This rig had a complete refurbishment by the Chester Basin Fire Department in 1992, after being retired from the FDNY.  I believe this rig served as Engine 92 with FDNY.  Corrections welcome.

The reason for the -11 in Chicago's 2-11 response
Posted by: Guest - 11-15-2015, 04:29 PM - Forum: Q & A - Replies (3)

I'm sure that this has been addressed before, but was curious...I just read that the reason for the 11 in Chicago Fire's response of 2-11, 3-11, etc. is because "11 apparatus are sent."  Is this true, or was the 11 more a result of trying to get everyone else's attention in the days of the fire bell signals? I'm just curious, as I haven't been able to find a solid answer.

Thanks!

White Plains (NY) Fatal Working Fire w/ Rescues 11-14-15
Posted by: TacSupport1 - 11-14-2015, 07:50 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (2)

White Plains, NY is located in Westchester County, NY, just 30 minutes north of Manhattan.

A heroic job by the first arriving White Plains PD Officers and FD on rescuing two victims from this fire. Sadly, a 3 year old child died in this fire after being rescued and transported to the hospital. Her grandfather is in critical condition at this time.

I am glad I could capture the heroism and compassion of the White Plains Police and Fire Departments in this situation.

I arrived shortly after the first line was stretched. I'm sorry for the crappy photo quality, I was actually in the area experimenting with and learning a new lens

Heh. That didn't take long. Knew it wouldn't. I'm kinda surprised that one one on here has posted it yet. Here it is, the one and only picture, known in existence- of the B-Model with the TRUCO boom (Not Eaton, per Mike Martinelli.) Credit to the unknown photographer and from the Chad Lilly Collection.
