Duane also took photos of the Baltimore ambulance fleet. I only scanned a few of them. Here is Baltimore Ambulance 14, a Chevrolet/Swab that Duane didn't have the year of.

Here is Baltimore Ambulance 9, listed as a 1973 Chevrolet/Swab.

Here is a photo Duane took of an older Chrevrolet ambulance, possibly a reserve.

Duane also got to a few fires while in Baltimore. I believe this one might have been a multiple alarm from the amount of equipment in the photos.

Possibly the other side of the same fire. Obviously Duane arrived on the scene rather late into the fire.

A number of rigs on the scene.

Here is an interesting shot Duane took of the working end on one of Baltimore's engines.

And finally, Duane's indoor shot of the Box 414 Associations 196x GMC canteen truck.

Steve, THANK YOU! , for a great & wonderful photo tour of THe BCFD of 1973,man I can't tell you how many memories those photos brought back. Being a boy growing up in Baltimore & a Firebuff, to me there was no other Fire Department. Thanks once again for posting these beutiful relics. You are the Man! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hail.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Hail' />
LAFD, Baltimore City, etc. would not have been possible without you Steve. Please do not let some unhappy person ruin what you have done. Your series truly are the best.
Steve, another extremely enjoyable post. All of these works are absolutely priceless.

Enjoy the holiday.
keep them coming gang, its amazing to see what used to be around out there. imagine trying to get through the city with the little to none warning devices they have today.some of them were retrofitted with a single strobe that many used on a rear corner
GREAT PICS!!!! The only rig that i remember is the 1973 Mack Rescue. I remember seeing it years ago at one of the first Firehouse expos, circa 1984.

Thanks for sharing those!

The first (and third) ambulances you posted could be either 1971 or 1972 Chevys. You can see the total 1973 redesign on the second one. Keep them coming.

firebuff55407, thank you for putting your time into posting all these wonderful classic city shots from 1973! I enjoyed every one of them. Anything that is Baltimore City I have always loved the most so you really made my week!!

hungrybus - I'm glad you enjoyed them. If Duane had been there just one year later, think of all the old Macks, Seagraves, ALF's and Wards that would have been gone after the 18 new 1974 Seagrave engines arrived. Baltimore certainly had a lot of interesting apparatus in 1973.

Ladder 68 - Thank you very much.

tradewinds - Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed them.

tradewinds - I did find a few more slides of ambulances, the 3rd alarm fire, and Baltimore County Station 14 slides that I'll post today.

Crossbronxxpress - Thank you. I did find another slide of the 1973 Mack MB/Swan squad I'll post.

reckscoop - I'm posting a few more Baltimore ambulnces today, none of wfich Duane identified in his notes.

Photoguy Kurt 07 - I guess if I made one persons week it was worthwhile. Thank you.

Here's a better picture of the Box 414 canteen Duane shot at the 3 Alarm fire. It is a Chevrolet, not a GMC as I thought from the earlier photo.

In looking through the back of Duane's pocket notebook from his trip (Pocket Notebook #8), I found the rundown of apparatus at the four-alarm fire in Baltimore. While he doesn't list the address, here's what Duane wrote down for BFD response:

1st Alarm- E6, E9, E34, T1, T5, BC2

2nd Alarm- E24, E32, E23, T16, R1, HiX-1, MHU, AC, BC5, D2, Box 414

3rd Alarm- E2, E10, E3

4th Alarm- E7, E19, E27, T2

Here's another photo from the fire.
