Are there any upcoming plans to replace the Tower Ladder at 3's? It seems like its OOS more often than in service. Does not having a TL have an impact on the DCFD operations?

Guest

I'm friends with one of Tower 3's drivers and he told me that rig is BEAT UP. As far as replacing it goes I will defer to the DCFD guys to answer.

Rescue Squad 3

It may have a big #3 on it, but that's a reserve squad. Old HMU, formerly old RS#1 in stars & bars.

Depends on who you ask, but we went years without any after TW10's Aerialcat fell apart after 9/11.

Thanks for the correction ResQ. I had a feeling it was a reserve, since the newer Squads are walk-in only, without crew cab.
Nate, another wonderful set of photos you have posted, yet again!!

Great work!

ResQguy I am sure you have heard this on thousands of times but urban legand is that DCFD has to have a tower ladder near the WH to rescue the President incase of a fire at the WH. I have seen that in print before many many many many years ago. When I first heard it I thought it was bunk.

Maybe so, but I haven't see it in print. I'll ask my resident historian Lt J.E. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

And why can't a rescue be effected via a 110 or 135?
