Quote:I was also curious about the somewhat inflated prices.

Looking through some of the documents linked below, I understand a little more. These purchases are being made using the HGAC purchasing cooperatives, so no bids were needed. They also added a lot of options and upgrades to the base price. Definitely fully loaded, no expense spared it seems. The contract includes stainless steel construction, extended warranties, and also includes loose equipment, radios, computers, and installation.

Here's some more information on the award, breaks down the cost a little more on the Engine purchase:

Thanks for tracking down this information and sharing, I especially liked the "unpublished" options, I thought we were going to need the secret handshake for that!  It is pretty amazing how fast the base price can get jacked up when getting everything but the fittings and fire hose.

Quote:Recently heard that Tower 3 (at Rehab) won't pass UL testing. Any facts to that? What was the plans for the second AerialScope, or old Tower 3 once it was rehabbed?

Thanks

Wouldn't surprise me.

Its generally the case that we buy the apparatus fully loaded. They usually drop off the apparatus and all the hoses, tools, and appliances in boxes. They take all the old equipment so that it can stay on the soon to be reserve piece.

I think its also just easier for us to get everything built into the spec so that contract and procurement doesn't deny, forget, or mess up the hoses, tools, appliance orders.

This mayor has made the single largest financial contribution to our apparatus in decades, if not ever. Hopefully within a few years we will be back to having a reliable and technologically current fleet.
Well.......Anyone? What's the latest on apparatus news? Any updates on the Pierce or Seagraves expected for 2018?

So does anyone know what's going on in Washington DC? No updates, nothing on the new apparatus for 2018 nor have there any been any social media activity in regards to such . ????

8 Pierce wagons - first production model is almost done. There have been some changes from what i can see and have been told.

8 Seagrave wagons - first production model is almost done. It looks just slightly behind the first Pierce.

95’ Seagrave Aerialscope is estimated to be in early next year. Similar spec to the old one, but with all the 2017 features.

Sure is ! Engine 21 . Wonder why they are getting a New one and their wagon is a 2011 . But then again its supposed to be a split order .

I wonder if they have a photo rule because usually someone by now would have a posted a DCFD rig close to completion by now either at Pierce or Seagrave .
Last question if anyone happens to know. I have been by Engine 3 several times over the last couple of months and they have been riding various Reserve Seagrave Wagons.Wonder if E3 was wrecked or just won't be back.I didn't see it at the shops or AES.

Could that be in for a refurb?
Just out of curiosity....does anyone know why they split the engine order between Pierce and Seagrave?

Station 13.

Opened 2015, near the corner of 4th and E streets. As you can see, on the ground and second floors of the Hyatt Place hotel. Home to Engine 13, Truck 10, and Ambulance 13. Also home to Foam 1, an E\-One foam pumper, and Foam 2, an Oshkosh ARFF truck, both used for standby at the White House when Marine 1 lands and takes off from the White House lawn.

How are foam 1 and 2 staffed? And is it anytime marine 1 lands or takes off it heads over to the white house? Id imagine the units are out of the station more then in house if thats the case
I believe both are Staffed with members and they usually will take Engine 13 as the lead when standing by for Marine 1
