I saw that too but wonder if the ground ladder was in the process of being thrown. Another thought would be with that wooden stick cranked out all the way, it may have been there to give support to the stick.



Look at all the Bangor ladders that were thrown!! Very good Truck Company work by the members. Now days you probably would have to have two companies to throw a Bangor ladder due to the manpower cut backs.



As a former Safety Officer I may not have pooped in my pants, but may have in someone else’s!!!!

Baltimore's wood aerials carried a straight beam ladder with "tulips" on one end. These "U" shaped cups cradled a rung of the aerial ladder to support it as shown in the photo, when it was not supported by a building.

I got rid of the truck about 5 years ago. Just have a Hahn and a Crown now.

Here's a pic closer to home: Engine 11's 1990 Ford/ E\-One, S-183, seen on December 13, 2001. It was one of five delivered (Engine Companies 7, 11, 21, 22, and 23). They had Hale 1250 gpm single stage pumps, 500-gallon water tanks, and 250 hp Caterpillar 3208T power plants. Unfortunately, the front intake came flush with the bumper and did not swivel, which meant the Keystone valve became something akin to a battering ram in traffic.

Yes - it went in service within the past 2 days.
I was out at MWAA Station 301 at National Airport to shoot Engine 301 their 2009 Arrow XT pumper. While I was there I noticed DC Fire Engine 64 there. They have been using Engine 64 for a while now. The Quantum Rescue Engine they were running was wrecked on the way to a fire in Alexandria a while back. Their reserve pumper burned up when it caught on fire, I believe, during a pump test. I am not sure how long they have been running with Engine 64.

Since I have always focused more on the NoVA departments I don't have any info on year, etc, other than Seagrave. I am sure someone can fill in those blanks.
