Any news on the new apparatus
Why they get rid of it? Something going to be replacing it soon?

Dude it had like 300,000 miles on it. I assume it's place in the reserve fleet will be taken by one of the wagons moving out for the 6 2011 Pierces. You should have seen its twin E27. I do believe it is serving time in the Dominican Republic these days.

Shop serial S-105, 1998 Seagrave 1500/500, 1998 - 2011



S-105 was one of two rescue pumpers purchased from Seagrave in 1998, an era of company disbandments and on-duty staff reductions for the DCFD. It was the first Seagrave acquisition in 50-years. It came equipped with cutters and spreaders and served Engine Co. 31 until replaced by a similar Seagrave in 2004. She went on to perform almost non-stop work as reserve pumper E-61, then as warehouse-reserve (not “ready-reserve”) E-70. It was recently removed from the inventory.



1998 – 2004 E-31

2007 – 2011 E-70

2011 – Disposed

DC purchased 2 Seagrave TDA's that were painted in the stars and bars paint scheme. I believe they were 1996. This group of 4 pumpers was right as they went to the new paint scheme.

Ah, I thought they ended up buying it after we failed to deliver. Oh well. She sat on VA Ave for so long in the rain.... Anyway, I still don't believe ol' E31 only has 55k miles.

Also on the chopping block in 2011, shop serial S-106



S-106 was the first of 20 E\-One Cyclone II’s, purchased 1998 – 2000. It was originally Engine 4. These 1500/500 pumpers were, ostensibly, built to the same specs as the ’98 Seagraves. Nevertheless, the rigs had a good amount of dead space over the rear axle and were known to fishtail on occasion when slamming on the brakes.

S-120 was one of twelve short-wheelbase E\-One Cyclone II’s, 1250/ 500 received in 2001. S-120 entered service as Engine 13. Image is April 25, 2001.

S-120 was put into reserve in May, 2007. It next ran as E-21 after E-21’s identical E\-One was struck and wrecked by Engine 9 in November of that year. It became ready-reserve Engine 65 in 2007 and remained quartered at Engine 21.



She was:

E-13 2000

E-65 2007

Disposed 2011

The pumper is one of five Ford/ Ward LaFrance wagons delivered in 1968 and in service into the 1980’s. Shop serials S-101 through 105 had Hale QLD 750 GPM pumps and 250-gallon water tanks.

Got word from Pierce that the Engines will be delivered next week. I'm going to guess that means to Atlantic Emergency Solutions. Still no definete word on assignments though.

I see that the dept was at Oshkosh today for final inspection on the Striker.
