Here is the small DC Fire Boat. The also had the Glen there and it used its flying stand pipe (???) to supply water to the bridge. Remember the last car of the train was supposed to be on fire.
OK, so the drill begins. The first thingwe do is harrass the operator via the intercom
"Whats going on?"
"Don't you know who I am??"
More of that
"The car is filling with smoke!"
"HEEEELLLLLLLPPPPP!!!"
The last car filled with smoke from a smoke generating machine.
Another view of the rear car and the bridge. YEs that is third rail!
Well help wasn't coming so what are resoureful CERT members to do????
WE secured em to the windows with band aids!
Well someone appreciates the effort!
and we got some attention. This is a DCPD launch.
The harrassed train man finally makes it back to us.
He removed all the able bodied to the front car disconnected what he had to but alas 1 guy had an MI and was sinking fast (guess who) and another had a broken ankle and could not move. His "wife" would not leave him.
I asked the train guy "am I gonna die" He said "YES"
He then said, "I have to separate the good from the bad" and he locked us in the train car!
Here I am. I'm coming Elizabeth!!!
The DCFD Medic (Tim) from E 16 got to me after a time. IMHO they should have had someone doing triage ahead of the medic to maximize his time, but oncehe got to me he was very good.
I learned the trick for taking nitrospray, got some fake aspirin. Got my BP and heart rate taken. Now for those who don't know (and why would you) I am pretty fuzzy. It was no fun removing those leads at all.
They then put me on a stokes and carried me out. and put me on this little cart.
One of the guys is leading a lind lady off the bridge.
A better look at the cart.
They pushed me off the bridge and caried me to the treatment area where I was a red tag.
Tim was with me to the end.
More. It was cold and the coat was appreciated.
More from the treatment area.
